Sorry for my bad english and my ignorance... What is a feedback issue??

  • afibanez Feb 18, 2009

Ok. Thx. Yes I have checked all this issues, I isolated the subwoofer only with the energy power and when I turned on the hummmm beging very louder, then I twist the bass control and hummm dissapear and the subwoofer work fine until the bass control moves itself again (loose), maybe can work fine days even weeks but suddenly the hummmm begins again.

feedback issues would be anything electronic near the subwoofer that could be emitting the humm you hear. typically trhis involves a audio input method of sorts i will use a microphone as an example. when plugged in and powered on if the microphone is to close to a speaker the sound picked up from the microphone travels through the speaker and emits feedback

Greetings afibanez,
so far from the information gathered from you, it sounds as if the control knob mechanism in the unit itself is going out. the fact that it adjust on its own, and the humm indicated that the position sensor in the control knob is malfunctioning. If at all possible visit the manufacture's website and there should be a search bar once you have searched for and found your product, there will or should be a link to help you purchase parts and accessories for the unit. I hope that i have been helpful and this fixes your problem. any diagrams or instructions can be found on the manufacture's website. if you are still unable to complete/fix this problem with the information available or that i have provided let me know and we can take further action at that time. but my main suggestion is to replace the internal working component of the control knob.

Thank you
Ryan

I have the accoustimas 15 surround sound. Even when not in use the subwoofer emits a constant thump. It's very low but irritating. What is causing this?

That would be an electrical fault. Possibly an Electrolytic Capacitor that is leaking voltage into the audio circuit. Or a faulty semi-conductor.

Sometimes there is a very annoying buzzing noise coming from the speakers. Why is that? Can it have something to do with the earth? I have grounded the speakers to an iron stick outside the house.

LOL. This is a common, easily solveable problem. Remove your cellphone or anything that emits radiation of any sort from the general area. Don't believe me? send a text message while sitting net to your speakers. It does this even if you arent sending a message because your phone sends intermittent signals to the cell tower. the radiation being emitted from the phone does weird things with the magnets inside the speakers.

Quest subwoofer pops every 40 seconds or without any input. Does not produce any bass or output

Problem may be a blown internal amp module. Some JBL powered subs have this same problem, emiting a burst of noise from time to time even when no signal is being sent to them. I've tried fixing this problem before with only marginal success, even going so far as to install a small cooling fan inside the sub to control the overheating that can destroy these modules. If the module is blown, you can probably replace the whole sub for about what it would cost to repair it. Look into this carefully before you commit to a repair job.

My Polk PSW 303 subwoofer emits a hum when plugged in and powered off. When the unit is turned on the hum gets louder. At this point the unit is useless. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

Hiya sounds alot like there is a power supply issue with the unit that will require repair for it to be doing off or on. Probably wont be to expensive, request a quote first to make sure viable.

Best of luck

Acoustimass Subwoofer has a low "hummm" sound when turned on.

Sounds like an inadequate ground wire in the signal cable. You may have to replace the cable between the reciever and bass module. It also, however, may be IN the bass or reciever module.
