Question about Kitchen Ranges

5 Answers

I have a commercial Bunn CDBC coffee maker and its acting funny, in other words, after brewing a couple of pots, it turns off on its own and does not start. After maybe two more days, it decides to make maybe four pots this time. Before it turns off, the machine becomes very hot as though it's overheating. Please advice, Thank you. Brian

First of all you need to check fuses that blows when excessive heat is detected,

Also chance main power switch could also be faulty . Heating element turns off when excessive temperature is sensed . The problem could be heating element .

There is a thermal shutoff switch. It is faulty, or it is working properly, and turning the system off because it is overheating via a faulty thermostat regulator.

Replace the Regulator if the temp is getting too hot. This will solve your problem.

Check the power cable and the power plug, the most likely is that you have a bad solder joint inside the machine.

Check your heating element inside the water tank and make sure that the element is not full of lime or calcium build up. Also make sure that the tempurature control does not have lime and calcium build up.

I have an Imperial gas 6 burner range. All my pots are getting coated in soot. The appliance is 11 years old and this is a new problem.

Old jets are in need of cleaning or replacing because they are not allowing the fuel to be burned completely! If their orifices are too large, too much gas comes through and there is not enough air to use the gas completely.

I bought a used stf 15 bunn coffee maker , i hooked it up to the water line , and plugged it in , my problem is that it will run about enough water for about 2 pots , i hear it click when the first pot...

Yes that is possible. There is a pressure regulator that is normally mounted on the back of the coffee maker. On older models the filter and pressure regulator may be inside the cabinet accessable by removing the bottom panel of the coffeemaker. The pressure regulator is a hexagon shaped usually brass fitting about 3 inches in length. The filter looks much the same. Both of these brass fittings should be somewhere in the water line between the wall faucet and the water inlet of the coffee maker. If not there the unit will overflow if you water pressure is over 40 psi in your location. These fittings are available from restaurant equipment stores and on Ebay for example. There is one other thing you may try. If you take off the panel directly behind the coffee pot you will see two adjustments. One is a temperature adjustment and looks like a small pin sticking up with a smaller pin at 90 degrees from it. The other adjustment is a timer. There will be a dial on the timer. This timer sets the amount of water per cycle by controlling the time that the fill valve stays open. Turn the timer counterclockwise by about 25% and hit the brew button again. If it overflows reduce the timer again. If you don't have a pressure regulator, you may not be able to turn the timer low enough to prevent the overflow situation. Good luck!

I have a Kenmore range [gas]and the oven wont come on The pilot light is lit..since I cleaned it it has acted funny, comes on sometimes, makes me think it is clogged up what can I do to ck. this out

Take a Q-Tip and carefully clean around the orifice where the flame usually is. If the pilot is not successfully warming the thermo couple the safety will not allow the control to let gas by for ignition.
