Hi daneilb101 - Typically error code SY EF indicates that the refrigerator has detected an evaporator fan circuit failure. Contact a professional to move forward accurately. The wiring between the main control board and evaporator fan will need to be check and diagnose. Depending on the diagnoses the main control board may need replacing.

Is there a number after "EF"? There are a few series of codes and different solutions based upon that digit.

Generally, EF error is showed with an additional number on your display... EF 1, EF 2, EF 3, EF 5, EF8, or EBF.
Each error code will depict a different cause and solution. Out of these solutions, the most common is the control board and possibly the UIB (User Interface Board), or too higher mains voltage coming into the house, causing damage in this UIB device.
Test and check voltage, if this isnt solve it, relace UIB device.

So we just fixed our EWT806 after it suffering the dreaded EF fault... The problem... Too higher mains voltage coming into the house! Albiet within specification from the supplier, the Electrolux EWT806 doesn't like anything around 250 volts! Obviously a poor design on the control board which is unable to accept a wide supply voltage!

Solution, isolation transformer inline with the machine. Now it runs like a dream!

The long answer is, it doesn't necessarily mean there is something wrong with your Electrolux refrigerator.

Turn the power off on the digital display and carefully unplug the refrigerator from the power source. Leave the refrigerator unplugged for three to five minutes. Plug the refrigerator back in and give the refrigerator a few minutes then turn the power button back on. Press the default button on the display and see if the EF code goes away.

Electrolux recommends that you do not plug the refrigerator into an outlet that has a reset button. If your refrigerator is plugged into one of these outlets, try plugging it into another outlet and see if the refrigerator resets itself.

There is either something wrong with the fan or the computer. But the only thing you can do is go through the owners manual if you can't correct it with that you will have to call for warranty service. If you go any further then that you will void the warranty.
