Re: Cant play sims2, message pops up saying i need...
Of course we need the specks Taylor- and your graphics card should support directx 9. Unless you have some obscure onboard graphics card or are running win 98 or ur card is really old direct x 9 is supported by cards that were sold even 3-4 years ago.
NOW WHAT YOU CAN TRY IS: If you are on win xp and this funked up message shows up you can try running the gave in compatibility mode for win 2000. right click on the game file go to compatibility tab choose win 2000 in the dropdown apply and okay it. Try and run it again.
Cheers rate if this does it- if its your low end hardware upgrade coz there is nothing any of us can do for low end hardware

First thing you do is check your system requierments,(should be located on the back of your CD case, or somewhere in your manuel, probebly under the title "System Requirments") it will probebly say something like "complete Direct-X compatible graphics adapter requiered". You then go to Start Menu-->Run (type in "dxdiag" (without quotes)) and see if you have the correct graphics card, and or graphics adapter.
If you do have the correct system requierments repost your problem saying you have the correct system requierments but you still get the following message: "Failed to find any Directx9.0 compatible graphics adapters in this system! Please make sure you have a DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest drivers provide by the manufactuer. The application will now terminate."
If you do not have the correct system requierments, you cannot play the game on that computer.
If it doesn't recognise it there probably is a scratch or something like that on it, or you have disk emulator softwarelike Daemon Tools running, which causes games to block. Try closing the emulator software. If you don't have any running, you could try using a crack for the game.
A crack is a copy of the game launcher that does not look for the CD when it starts. GO to one of tese sites:
and download a "fixed exe" for your version of the game. It is advisable to update your game to the latest version, and then download the late version crack.
To open the file the crack is in, you will need a program called 7zip. jJust google it and download it, it's free and perfectly safe.
Once you have the crack, overwrite the file of the same name in your Sims folder, and the game should run properly from now.
I hope this helps,
I am installing Sims2, and have done the main dvd disk, then University (no problems), however when I got to Night Life I got this error message; A problem occurred when trying to transfer the file 'E/TSBin/TS2UPD.exe from the media. It had a retry option but the same message would pop up. Any help? Thanks
Use that link to help you learn more about Direct X, and also find a suitable download for you. A lot of times, on disc copies of Direct X have problems. This may just be one of those cases. Either way, I'd download the newest version you can and install it from there. Every Direct X package has been backwards compatible. So worrying about a newer version being troublesome shouldn't be a problem.
