I came home to find the bottom rotor of the machine had come unscrewed inside the machine it had however completed a wash' I then found that when I turned it on for another wash the prewash light came on, I could hear the water flow for a short time but not through the roters. the drain pump then started and both the prewash and rinse lights started to flash. If I set the machine to Normal wash the wash licht comes on and then the same sonario as above resulting in the water draining and the prewash and rinse lights flashing.
No solution! tried resetting to factory defaults but ended up that even the drain pump stopped working. after flooding the kitchen (nearly). I decided it was terminal and am loking for a new dishwasher urgently as I type. Cheers.

Flashing lights, pump running even when turned off. Had to switch off at the socket. The vibration from the machine had managed to give a quarter turn to the appliance gate valve, the type with the little blue handle. I could see the indentation in the rear rubber panel on the back of the dishwasher. Unscrewed the little blue handle, pushed the machine back in and started working as normal. :)
Very possible the top and bottom rotors are not turning correctly. Remove them then physically clear each hole with a large needle. Wash repeatedly with hot water and carefully bang rotors to dislodge crusty undesolved soaps internally until satisfied all is clean.Replace rotors and retry.
You need the control panel to reset before anything else can happen. To do this TURN OFF THE PLUG SOCKET FIRST AND UNPLUG. Then you need to drain ALL the water from the machine. Turn off the water supply feed and place the wastage pipe as low to the floor as poss ( 1-2" off floor). Water will gush out so use a large shallow tray and keep emptying the tray. Tilt the dishwasher over slightly to make sure all the water is out. This will allow the control panel to reset itself which wouldn't normally happen if the base of the dishwasher was holding even a small amount of water. Re connect the water, plug back in , select the RESET setting on the dial and close the door and switch on. Leave for about 20 seconds and then turn off. Rotate the selector switch to "A" Intensive wash and switch
I found this on another site and it really did work for me
I've just (as of 10 minutes ago) had the same problem. I followed the advice given elsewhere in this forum and removed the bottom cover - water running out so needed a big towel to mop it up. I stood the machine upright and restarted it - no problem! it started straight away.
The question now is where is the water coming from? It seems there is obviously a leak somewhere and water is gathering in the undertray setting off the microswitch.
Hiya, i have the same problem. I am getting mine repaired on the 16th Next monday Booked an appointment with Hotpoint there coming to see and fix it. I will ask about the flashing lights and if you keep in contact i will let you know Ok"
