1 Answer

HP Slimline s7310n...I had to do a new install of XP home as someone messed up an install of Vista...I cannot get the onboard ethernet to work and I have been unable to locate any drivers. I have went through all of the drivers that HP has listed and nothing works...I have also tried installing a wireless link and that will not work either any ideas on what to try?

Thanks for responding....When I double click on the device I get a window with three tabs - "General", "Drivers", "Resources"

There seems to be no alpha numeric code anywhere when I follow these instructions.

Do you happen to have any other ideas?

Open up device manager> double click on the unknown device> go to the details tab> in the drop down choose hardware id> google the alpha numeric code on the first row before the & symbol (ex- PCI\VEN_14E4)

That will give you the make of the ethernet adapter you have on the pc. Once you have it installed you can patch up the wireless as it works on the network adaptor base which generates the ip address.

Hit me again if this dosent do the trick.

well that is surprising all the devices have four tabs in properties. Now you can try installing radarsync and see if it sniffs out the device and offers the drivers or not. BE VERY VERY CAREFUL WHILE INSTALLING AS THE THING IS FREE BUT COMES WITH A BUNCH OF ADWARE LIKE FREEZ.COM AND OTHER TOOLBARS. UNCHECK ALL TOOLBARS WHILS INSTALLING IT AND JUST SEE IF IT FINDS THE DEVICE OR NOT.

dONT UPDATE ANY OTHER DRIVERS IF THEY ARE WORKING FINE AS IT MAY LEAD TO NEW PROBLEMS.

I cannot install ethernet driver of hp compaq d530. Where can i find it?

Hello: I hope the following information is helpful.
If you are trying to install the driver for the Broadcom ethernet NIC that was pre-installed (NOT an ethernet card that you purchased and installed yourself), there is a softpack (updated driver installation) download available from HP/Compaq. It will install the driver automatically for you, just download it from the link below and run the ".exe" file.
IMPORTANT: Check to be sure that your current Operating System, and model of the network device you are trying to install, are BOTH listed below BEFORE you download!
This is a software / driver update for the HP Compaq d530 ultra-slim desktop: All Models
Supported network devices:
BCM5906M Broadcom 10/100/1000 5782 based NIC Broadcom 570x 10/100 Integrated controller Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet 5782 Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet PCI-Express NetXtreme(tm) 10/100/1000 Gb NIC

Download the file by clicking the "Download" or "Obtain Software" button and saving the file to a folder on your hard drive (make a note of the folder where the downloaded file is saved). 2. Double-click the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.LINK where file can be downloaded:HP/Compaq Support-Broadcom Driver download
Again, I hope this information is what you neededto install your network device. Should this not answer your question, please come back, provide more details of your problem, and we will be happy to help!Best of luck to you!

Trying to install geforce 100 card in hp slimline 5257

Ok you look for the slot that fits your card, it will be a long thin colored plastic socket on the motherboard you insert the card into machine, If there is a card installed already remove that and insert the new one where you took the old one from, plugging it in will disable any onboard video device, if any. Now boot your PC, it will ask you for drivers at boot up insert the DVD that came with your card into the DVD and run the setup, or simply "point" it to the DVD where it will find the correct drivers and install. Reboot and you should be ready to go.

This is an easy one, Purchase a new suitable PSU, probably from Dell, You will find a set of 4 screws at rear of machine, in line with PSU, undo these 4 screws. Unplug the plugs from all the connections, MotherBoard, DVD, Hard Drive etc etc. Then simply do the reverse procedure.. carefully reassemble..

Hi,

Sleep is more commonly known as Hibernation with Vista.
Sometimes certain updates or freshly installed service packs can mess with your settings, or sometimes disable the feature altogether.

Microsoft have released a fix for just this problem.

Go here to Microsoft (link below) read down the page until you see Fix this problem, click on that and then click on Run when prompted.
You should get a message saying that the problem is fixed.

Restart your computer and set your Hibernation settings.
