Hi,

  1. Take backup of all your data like picture, document, videos, etc...
  2. Put OS Cd in and As soon as you turn on tap F12 then select CD ROM on the list
  3. Then it will give a message " Press any Key"
  4. As soon as u see the message press Enter
  5. It Setup Vista OS then it takes to partition Screen.
  6. Delete all the partiton and Create a new partion C,D,E as your wish
  7. It will install Vista in C Drive
  8. For XP  click on the link for clean installation http://gur.in/clean.htm
  9. While selecting the drive, Select D as your partion. this will install xp.
  10. so you have DUAL Boot OS.
Hope this helps,
Thanks,
Prem

I was trying to restore my c disk parytition and the power failed. The boot reccord is missing. How to recover?

Since you were trying to "restore", just restart the "restore" process (by booting either from the built-in Lenovo restore-repair-recovery partition, or from CD/DVD) and it will recreate a valid boot-record.

New Lenovo Y430 keyboard and touchpad does not work

Finally, I decided and insisted on being given a replacement for another defective Y430 unit. I am just so glad that the problematic 2 units were discovered before the 7-days allowance for return/replacement of defective units. I now have this third unit of Lenovo to replace the first two defective ones. I do hope this works well and will not make me do a fourth trip to the seller for any returns/ replacements/complaints again. :)
