I would go to Poulanpro.com with your model number and take a look at the manual for this tool and it gives you some troubleshooting hints on carb adjustments and other items to look for.

Where is Reid valve on 36cc Poulan chainsaw

I don't know but an intake reed valve is usually fitted directly to the intake port at the base of the cylinder barrel or crankcase and is revealed when the carburettor and any adaptor is removed.

Poulan 40cc 18". Not starting. Muffler full of liquid (gas?). Very hard to pull with plug installed, easy with it removed. New plug, good spark.

You might have a hydraulic lock in the engine if you squirted too much fuel in the engine while trying to start it. take the plug out, hold the throttle wide open and pull starter rope 5-6 times to clear it. Put plug back in and try to start it.

I have a poulan 4218 it starts but has to be wide open to run there is no mid range or idle just wide open.

The carb might need adjusting the adjustment screws my be turned in to far witch is causing it to run wide open and not having slow idle or mid idle

I just bought a new Poulan Model P3416 chaisaw (34cc) and I have followed the starting instructions and have not been able to start the saw. I have even varied the instructions but no luck. Any thoughts...

see if your switch is in run position and then pull your spark plug out see if it is wet, then see if it is sparking when you ground it and pull cord to roll over, if all is good hold throttle wide open and crank over without choke on, probably flooded, good luck
