Question about Philips Sport Personal CD/MP3 Player

2 Answers

Hi: I have a Philips 55PW936317F , production date of07/03 that you can hear click on but there's no audio or video. The screen stays black. I called "geek squad" since I bought it from Best Buy and after waiting for 2 weeks for my appointment, the morning of the appt. the tech calls me and tells me that it wasn't worth it for him to come to my place and diagnose the unit because he already knows what's wrong with it. He said that there's a motherboard that goes bad on these units and that the parts are no longer available. He also said that the "cooling liquid " for the tubes leak out and ruins the unit.I don't know if he was doing me a favor by telling me this over the phone and saving me the $150.00 for service call and diagnostics. Or if he was being lazy and didn't want to deal with my TV. I just want to know if this is a common problem on these units and if in fact the parts are NLA. Thanks

I have a philips 55pw936317f I gave up on, I had a shop come out, they replaced, the large signal board, the small signal board, the power supply board, and they gave up. The set comes on, warms up,has a picture for about 20 seconds then shuts down, and restarts by itself. I have to much in it now to junk it, what do I do next? I keep hearing about a DAG ground wire from the large signal board to any yoke on the crts. I see a ground lug in the rear of the lsb, but it has nothing on it . Help

He was not being lazy - in the past year or longer, as Philips has sold it's TV division to Funai, the parts needed to repair their projection TV's are no longer available, even to authorized Philips service centers.

Have a Philips MP3-CD Player-but no manual-don't exactly know what all the buttons are for.

The specific product you're inquiring about is not showing in your post. Name the make and model first, then we'll ALL look for the manual. Then (maybe) find a solution. You might find it at the manufacturer's support site, by using a common search engine or these guys...

How do put a video on the philips mp3

Hi,
You can't put video on it. It's a discman with mp3 capabilities. Meaning you can play shop purchased cds or play cdr discs with mp3 audio data files on. It sounds as though you are confusing mp3 with mp4. Mp4 is a video codec/file format.

How do i add videos on my phillip go gear vibe 4 gb mp3?

It should have come with a cd that contains the media converter program. If not you can download it from philips here. I use a different one that I found by using Google and looking for SMV Convertor. After converting video transfer like any other file.

Same problem here, wish I knew how to fix it... I noticed it can be helped a little if you adjust the convergence from the menu using the remote though.

Format in which videos are played in philips go gear is played

The format is different for each GoGear, but what you have to do is you MUST use the Philips/Arcosft Media Converter to convert the videos. It is available for free from Philips website, but you have to make sure that you get the converter that is specific for your EXACT model # of GoGear.

The CD rom for Go Gear MP3 does not play on insertion

As long as you don't have a MAC, click on My Computer, clcik on the CD-Rom drive, and it should start the installation process.

If it still fails, you can grab all of the software for free from Philips website.

Some items require it's own battery power to be read by a computer. Try to replace the battery.

Innovage photo keychain

try this. it worked for me. found it on amazon.com:

16 of 16 people found the following review helpful: stars-3-0._v47082372_.gif Not bad, once you figure it out, December 4, 2007 By zorra007 (Las Vegas, NV USA) - See all my reviewsI decided to review this because I had a hard time figuring out how to use this, and I basically pieced it together based on other reviews. Consider this a "how to" for those PC owners who are frustrated and don't want to take it back:

1) Go to mscustomercare.com, click on "Innovage Digital Photo Keychain," then download the "Photo Viewer Install." Try to save the .zip file to your desktop for easy finding/access.

2) Once it is downloaded, open the .zip file, click on "photo viewer" folder, then click "setup." Let the program run. It will put an icon on your desktop called "Photoviewer." Don't bother clicking on that right now.

3) Plug in the USB cord, then plug in the device. A blue screen will pop up on the device. (If it doesn't, then click the power button first). Choose the "USB Charge" option. Allow the device to charge for at least an hour. [The booklet says to let it charge up to 7 hours first, but I found that this isn't necessary].

4) After an hour (or longer), click the power button on the device. Another blue screen will pop up, along with some options. At this point, you can program the date and time.

5) Next, unplug the USB from the device, then from the computer. Then re-plug in the USB cord into your computer, and then into the device. Then turn on the device. Choose the "USB Update" option. At this point, your computer should automatically detect the device as storage hardware, and will automatically configure itself. (I have Windows XP, btw.)

6) After the computer finishes configuring itself, you will be able to open the Photoviewer program. (As you probably know, most people say that trying to open the program before doing this will result in a "no program detected, will terminate" or similar message.) Anyway, if all goes well--which it should--the program will open and you can then upload your pictures onto the device. It's really quite easy and self-explanatory.

7) A good rule of thumb is to save all of your pictures in a folder, in the order you want them to be on the device. Perhaps even better would be to resize or photoshop them before hand for maximum viewing quality. For example, the pictures I have that are close-up headshots look really great and fit nicely/clearly, while the ones I have of lots of people are not so clear. In fact, you can barely see some people's faces.

8) Once you are done cropping and adding your pictures, hit "synchronize" and it will put them on the device. Once it finishes, it will tell you. Just close the program then, and safely remove the hardware from your computer (click on the icon on your computer tray). Once you safely remove it, I prefer to just plug it in again, and choose "USB Charge," until the battery is fully charged and the light is green.

So, with some planning and patience, this device can work out pretty well. It took some time to figure this out, but I am happy to pass it on, as knowing this would have saved me some serious time. I am quite happy with it, and will be sending it to my cousin who is serving in the Marines in Iraq. :)
