Xbox 360 - Upsides- Better controller
- Xbox Live
- Better Western RPGs
- Downloadable Movies and TV Show
- More Demos
- Less Online Errors and or problems
- Achievements

Xbox 360 - Downsides
- Have to buy wireless adaptor if you want wireless
- RRoD (supposed to be gone on newer models)
- Smaller hard drive
- Xbox Live $

PS3 - Upsides
- Wireless included
- Playstation Network Free
- Blu-Ray player
- Nice Upconverting DVD player
- New PSStore has a nice new interface
- Final Fantasy (if you like it, which I dont)

PS3 - Downsides
- A lot of developers have trouble with the netcode for PSN
- Controller, feels cheap and the motion sensor sucks

I personally have an xbox 360. Hopefully this helps you choose.

Both consoles have advantages.
The Xbox 360 has a vast array of titles and has the biggest fan base of the two. If you connect the console to the internet, you can download games and movies through Xbox Live. You can also connect your PC to your Xbox 360 and use the console as a multimedia center using Windows Media Center.

The PS3 has a blu ray drive as standard, so you can watch blu ray movies through your PS3. DVD's are also upscaled up to 720p to improve the look of your movies. The PS3's online service is free, and allows you to download game demo's and downloadable content for games.
The Xbox 360's disadvantages are the fact you need to pay for access to Xbox Live, roughly £40 per year, but it does guarentee a reliable online service. Also earlier and cheaper models of the Xbox do not support full HD via HDMI.
The PS3 is very expensive and lacks quality titles. The console is also on a 10 year plan, so even though the console will outlast its rivals, it is likely to become outdated.
If you want to watch blu ray films and play games occasionally, go for the PS3. If you want a console with a lot of titles and a reliable online service,  get the 360. Of the two I'd choose the 360, but in 2 years or so I might need to reconsider.

PLEASE RATE MY ANSWER IF ITS HELPFUL !

FOR XBOX:

With the new Xbox 360 interface, the how-to below is not working anymore! You can do the following to reset your console:
To reset the display settings of the Xbox 360 console to the default settings, follow these steps:
  • 1. Remove any discs from the disc tray.
  • 2. Turn the console off.
  • 3. Turn the console on.
  • Note If you are using an Xbox 360 Wireless Controller, turn the console on by using the Xbox Guide button on the controller.
Note Make sure that you use the player 1 controller when you do this. The player 1 controller is the controller where the upper-left quadrant light is on.
  • 4. As the console starts, press and hold the Y button, and then pull the right trigger at the same time. This causes the Xbox Dashboard to reset the display settings to the default settings and then automatically restarts the console. So it's OK when the Xbox 360 console restarts.
FOR PS3 :

Power on PS3 via power button and HOLD IT for 5 seconds (release after the second beep). It should automatically configure your PS3 to the TV's native resolution for all settings.

I have an oportunitu to get ps3 or xbox elite. Which one should I take

Hi,

I would recommend the Xbox because they have a better network of players that use Xbox Live. However the PS3 has better graphics.

Regards.

Cant decide which one to buy

Hi, Xbox 360 is almost like ps3, though they have different features, but their mechanism inside are the same.

You can differentiate them by the body beauty, and display.

Think about it and go for one.
For me i would prefer xbox cause of the shape and size.

Take care.

Disk drives in game consols.

No, it will not work. The technology is different and a PC will not play a PS2, PS3, or XBox 360 or original XBox game.

Which is the best ps3 ( 40gb) or xbox 360 elite?

For right now, i would say the 360 because it has the most games out, and even though you have been hearing about the three rings of death(which is under waranty for 2 more years) the PS3 is haveig a lot of disk drive trouble.
