Check the receptacle you burner plugs in to. There are only three items to a burner. The switch, supply power. The receptacle where the element plugs into and of course the burner itself. You say you replaced the burner and has electric up to the element. How are you testing this voltage? Perhaps you are only reading 110 volts and your burner needs 220 volts to operate. Double check these item s and let me know if I can help further.

Waiting to hear from you,
Eric Campion

I checked the voltage and I am only reading 35 volts the others read 230 and are working fine

Unplug the unit and gain access to the rear of the range and then remove whatever necessary to gain access to the infinite switches (burner switches) There are five wires going to the switch. One is marked L1 another L2. Reading with a voltage meter, you should have 220 volts across these two terminals. Turn the switch on and read terminals H1 & H2. You should have 220 volts across these two terminals. Do You?

No I don't there is a reading of 20 volts,L1&L2 do have 220,the infinite switch looks burnt around one of the terminals, replacing it may fix the problem

Got a model number and brand and I will get you a part number for the infinite switch. Is that for the large or small burner? Eric

I have a frigidaire electric range. I believe that i have to replace the receptacle to one of the heating elements. The old one cracked. I know they have replacement kits. How do I install them and is it a pretty basic fix?

Cooker oven not working - replaced bulb. Hot plates still work.

This tutorial will show you how to check your Zanussi element and how to replace your Zanussi cooker element.
Here are the 3 main faults to look for in your oven or cooker that is not heating
  1. Your oven will not work until the clock/timer has been re-set after replacing an oven element or tripping the electrical supply. Consult your Zanussi manual.
  2. If you're Oven is not getting hot or heating up it could be a faulty element, if the fan in the oven is running and the thermostat light is on, this will lead us to believe that the element has gone faulty. With grills the thermostat light should come on there should be heat, if not then this could be the grill element or the thermostat.
  3. When you turn the oven on, the household electrical supply trips on the Rcd (this is the earth trip in the fuse board sometimes called the breaker tripping) your fan oven element has gone to earth and needs replacing.

There is a red light visable thru the glass top on the left rear of the cooktop. cannot find this light anywhere in the book. it is on and has never come on befor

Yeh,
I ve seen this before.
Try turning on one buner at a time. Make the element red hot!. If one does not get red hot. make a note of that switch.
Some stoves create a way for a technician to know which switch is shorted and uaually it is the one that doesn't get red hot.
If all buners are red hot , preheat oven for 350 and wait. it should take 5min to heat up oven. if oven not hot ,one of the elements is blown

How to replace bottom heating element on the GE JBP80Electric range, do I have to take out the inside to get to element connection?

The following link will give yo step-by-step advice on how to repalce a heating element on an Electric range:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3575810-replacing_the_bake_or_broil_element_in_a

To answer your initial question, yes, you have to remove the element from the inside of the oven. However, you must disconnect the electrical connections from the outside behind the rear panel to avoid causing damage to the wiring. Read through the steps I provided and let me know if you have any questions. I hope this helps you.

NOTE: The replacement element can sometimes become mishapened during shipping. They can be bent back in place, but you must exercise care in doing so. The element is fragile and can break.

Also, minimize handing the element surface with your bare hands. Oil from your skin can cause hot spots on the element which can contribute to premature failure. It is recommended that you wear gloves.

Element Melted - Turned White Hot/on fire and would not go out

You need to replace the element. Very easy to do. Cut power off at the breaker or unplug the stove FIRST (please!). Remove the two 1/4" screws securing the element to the oven cavity then two wires to the element just unplug. The wires can go either way. Call 1-800-626-2002 or go to the GE Appliance web site for the part. It is a WB44T10011 for the lower (bake) element and WB44T10009 for the top (broil) element.

Oven element burning without being turned on

no the element, but the thermostat that turns it on, you see the thermostat works like a light switch on the wall for the house lights, it's what turns it on and off.

If it's the light that indicated the element is on, replace the switch. If it's the light that indicated the element is hot, replace the element.
