If the PC board inside the tuner is not broken, the "F" connector can be replaced. This part is available and costs around $3-$5. Even if you have this part repalced by a shop, the cost will likely be less than replacing either the tuner or the entire main board.

Televison station won't scan

If you are receiving a "No Signal" error message, verify that:
  1. All of the cables physically connected to the TV and the input device are secure.
  2. The input device is turned on.
Your TV needs to scan for channels before it can show programming from an antenna, from cable TV when the cable comes directly from the wall (no cable box), or from a cable or satellite box connected to the TV with a coaxial (RF) cable. Do not scan for channels if you have a cable or satellite box connected using AV (Composite), Component, or HDMI cables. The box selects the channel, not the tuner inside your television. If you are not using the "TV" input, press the INPUT button on your remote until the correct input mode is selected.
To perform a channel scan using the coaxial input:
  1. Press the INPUT button on your remote to view your current input source. The TV (coaxial cable) input must be selected. This may appear as "TV," "ANT," or the channel and call letters of a station.
  2. If the TV input is not selected, press INPUT until the TV input mode is selected.
  3. Open the on-screen menu and select TV or Tuner option. (This varies by model.)
  4. Highlight Tuner Mode and select the correct option:
    • Antenna-over-the air signals from an antenna
    • Cable-direct from the wall cable TV, or a cable or satellite box connected to the TV with coaxial cable
  5. Select Auto Search or Auto Channel Scan. (This varies by model.)
  6. When the search reaches 100% complete, exit to the menu.
  7. Check the available channels:
    • Antenna or direct-from-wall cable-Press the Channel Up and Channel Down buttons on your VIZIO TV remote to view the available channels.
    • Cable or satellite box- Will return only one channel. Use the cable or satellite remote's Channel Up and Channel Down buttons.
If this does not resolve the issue, power cycle the TV and then re-run the channel scan:
  1. Turn off the TV.
  2. Unplug the TV from the electrical outlet.
  3. While the TV is unplugged from the wall, press and hold the Power button on the TV for 30 seconds.
  4. Release the power button.
  5. Plug the TV back into the electrical outlet.
  6. Turn on the TV.
Note: There is also an option to reset the TV to the factory default settings. This option is in either the SETUP or SYSTEM section of the on-screen menu. The option may be "Reset all settings", "System Reset," or "Reset & Admin." Consult your TV's user manual for the location and steps for resetting your model.
  1. Remove the coaxial cable from the DTV/TV connector on the back of your television and perform a channel scan to clear the existing channels. See the procedure above. This should not find any channels.
  2. Re-attach the coaxial cable to the DTV/TV connector and perform a new channel scan.
This video shows troubleshooting steps to use when a "No signal" message appears.

The coaxial connector broke off of my Apex LD3288T tv. I removed the back panel and I can not see how to re-connect the coaxial connector. Does anyone know how to repair this?

Its part of the tuner in most cases and not real easy to replace for a novice---sometimes the tuner will have to be replaced as when it broke off it may have damaged the circuit board inside the tuner.

there is a possible way around this: With a box of any kind being used that has the Audio/video jacks for output of signal you run cables from them to a set of matching inputs on the rear of set, leave set on that input and change channels with the box--bypass the tuner completely.

If the tuner and board it is only sold as a complete unit it will be expensive to repair.

Westinghouse tv turner issue

If the plays normal on other inputs then the tuner itself would be suspect. If you cant get a normal picture through any of the inputs then I would suspect the main board as needing replacement.

To convert a LCD Monitor into a TV
Instructions
    • 1

Compare internal and external TV tuners that are designed for use with computers. See if the tuner supports HD, DVI, component video, S-video, stereo, surround sound or other features you might like to use. Ensure that any internal devices will work with the expansion slots in your computer.

    • 2

Purchase a regular TV tuner if your monitor has S-video, coaxial or RCA inputs. These can be seen at the back of the monitor. S-video should be clearly marked; coaxial is a large round port, and RCA inputs are typically smaller and brightly colored. If your monitor does not have these inputs, purchase a special TV tuner designed just for computer monitors. If you would like to use the tuner with your computer and monitor, choose an internal TV tuner. If you're using your computer monitor as a television on its own, select a stand-alone external tuner. Install the internal TV in your computer, if applicable.

    • 3

Connect the TV tuner to the monitor with the proper cable. Select S-video as the connection option if both your tuner and monitor support it. Choose RCA component video as your next option. Use coaxial only if your monitor and tuner do not have the aforementioned connections. If your monitor has none of these connections, use a standard VGA cable to connect the tuner and monitor.

    • 4

Connect the tuner's audio outputs to your monitor's speakers. If your monitor has no speakers directly attached, connect external speakers to the TV tuner. This can usually be achieved using regular audio or RCA cable.

    • 5

Install an HD antenna high on a wall if you will be picking up free over-the-air television signals with your monitor. If you will be using satellite or cable TV with your monitor, simply plug the satellite or cable set top box into the tuner using RCA or coaxial cables. Then connect the tuner directly to the monitor.

    • 6

Set your tuner to the channel you use to pick up television stations. If you receive free over-the-air television, this channel will be 3 or 4. If you have satellite or cable TV, this station is determined by your television service provider. Check the documentation that came with your system to determine which channel to set the tuner on. You will probably need to change channels using the satellite or cable box rather than the TV tuner.

My coaxial connector broke off. i have a new F connector now but i dont see where to solder it on to. can you help me find where i should solder on the f connector?

The connector needs to be soldered in two ways. The center connector needs to be soldered to the same point as the original. This may have broke off close to the small circuit board inside the tuner and you hopefully can see the broken piece sticking out. The tuner should ideally be removed to accomplish this. The tuner usually has two shields that snap in place that can be removed. You may be able to solder a short piece of wire to the remainder of the original connector. The outside of the f connector also needs to be soldered to the tuner shielding itself as a ground connection and you will need a soldering gun or higher wattage iron for this step. Use a lower wattage soldering pencil for the signal connection to the tuner board.

Sharp Aquos LC-46D64U need to replace broken tuner

actually you dont need the tuner you just need the rf connector itself which you can easly pick up at a radio shack for a few bucks. you can DIY it will take a bit of soldering and time. First take the broken connector to radio and look for a close match, longer leads better you can always cut to fit.
remove board from tv and un solder the tuner. if solder does not seam to melt apply some fresh solder and then unsolder. pop the tuner lid of carefully both top and bottom to gain access to the circuit. cearfully remove any remains of the old connector. Now find the hole where the last part was and insert new RF connector adjust and cut the lead if nessary and resolder to circuit. place both caps back on and resolder tuner to board.connect board to ther circuit and test.

Coaxial to component

You may need an extra HD tuner for your TV. The only problem that you may have would be the original signal running through the coaxial cable. If it's just regular TV stations, the tuner should fix the problem.
