Zanussi DCE 5655 dishwasher heating intermittently

I hope you can help. I have a Zanussi DCE 5655. It heats water and runs a cycle but only if I unplug it from the wall at night?!?!?! There is usually some small leaking going on inside during operation the unit which I can see if I remove the face panel. If I try two runs then the second usually doesnt heat. I have a hunch this is smthg to do with the polystyrene water detector microswitch float but I havent managed to locate it yet. Any help appreciated. Thanks

Mantona, you're on the right track. Your heater terminals are large, insulated and poke through the tub facing downward. To test this, remove one of the wires connected to the terminal, then check OHMS. If this is what you did, you don't have to do that again. Elements rarely fail, the problem most likely resides in the hi-limit thermostat. You know where the element is, now follow one of the wires back toward the control panel. One of the element wires will pass through the thermostat (in series) before going to the control. The thermostat is mounted tightly to the bottom of the tub, touching it to monitor temperature. When you find it, remove one of the wires (there are 2) and check OHMS. You should read ~1 Ohm, if you read infinity, you found the problem. (You can verify your finding by removing both wires from it and connect them together. Then run a wash load to check the heater. Don't leave it in this condition! The thermostat is a safety device and should not be permanently bypassed! If your test of the t'stat proves that it's OK, you'll have to test it with power on and running. I can walk you through this if needed. Let us know how it turns out.

There's a water leak inside, causing the anti[ flood micro switch to activate. Even a couple of tea spoonfuls of water will cause this. Remove the cover and check the polystyrene float at the bottom. A very small amount of water there will cause the problem. Check for any water leaks or even a slight water surge when the machine starts.

I have Zanussi DX6453 dishwasher. Suddenly it is not drying our dishes. All programs working. Do you think is problem with Element or Thermostat. It is heating water.

sugget the water temperature, it relies on the temperature of the water to heat to items up so that when the wash cycle has finished the heat will dry them. Hope this is useful. Regards Mike

Zanussi 6015 dishwasher washes in cold water

the dishwasher might accept cold water but must heat the water up during the cycle. If it does not then check the heater circuit......element...thermos NTC, with a meter for electrical continuity....some dishwashers stop mid cycle if the re is no heat but some go right through on cold depending on the make.. good luck

My dishwasher works but is taking a long time to finish the cycle it is a zanussi DA 6373

Your dishwasher may pre-heat the water. If so, and if the water entering the dishwasher is cool, the heater may take up to half an hour to heat the water.

To avoid the wait, increase the incoming water temperature before turning on the dishwasher. Do that by running the kitchen sink faucet until the water runs hot. Or increase the temperature of the hot water to the entire house at the hot water heater.

Most possible reasons that the door switch or timer unit is defective. The dishwasher should heat the water to about 55 C as the heating cycle starts. In these cycle, the dishwasher pauses after has filled with water and wait for the water to reach the temperature. If the water isn't being heated (because of a problem with the heating element or thermostat), after the unit stops at the heating cycle, it never continues. if you think that a user manual may help you more, it can be downloaded ($8.95) at url: http://www.download-manual.com/shop/Zanussi-FLE1416W-User-Manual-pr-8261.html

Another possible reason is that the timer unit is defective. If you have observed anything different post a comment.

Dishwasher

I have not heard of or seen this dishwasher but I do know on a lot of dishwashers if the water is not hot enough it will heat the water and the heating light will come on to let you know. On most models if the washer has to heat the water it will prolong the wash time. It may do this through out the wash and rince cycles. dont be surprized if your dishwasher runs 90 min or longer. This is normal for most all dishwashers now. I would read the owners guide and get to know whats normal for your unit.
