Question about Linksys Wireless-G WRT54G Router

Need to add another laptop computer to my wireless router at home

Have a linksystem wireless G router at home. Model # WRT54GS. It is presently working just fine. When trying to add my wife's new laptop, it is asking for my password, which I have forgotten. I know there is a backdoor phaseword, but can't remember what that is. Can you help me? I don't want to have to set the whole thing up again just because of a password.

Thanks in advance,

John

Your Internet service provider is comcast cable company.
You need to open the setup page of the router and change the Internet connection settings manually.

Connect the computer to the router and modem to the router.
Open the setup page of the router using 192.168.1.1
Click on MAC address clone. Enable it and click save settings.
Power cycle the router and your main computer will be online.
Then you can change the wireless settings manually.

The problem is the Linksys wireless router is not properly configured. Try downloading the automatic configuration file which can be accessed from the Linksys site for your specific model wireless router.

Hope this helps you.

Linksys WRT54GS not working

  1. First you may need to check if the WLAN or Wireless light on the router is on.
  2. Try connecting your ITouch to a different wireless network.
  3. If you can borrow a wireless ready laptop from a friend, then borrow one.
  4. Check if the laptop will be able to detect a wireless signal from router.
Please update me about this matter.

Two Questions Connecting with Belkin Wireless Router...

To answer the first question, please provide what kind of operating system you are using, and please provide the exact error message. Its probably just a caution/nag that you don't really have to worry about, but if you provide more information then so can we.
For the second question, you will need to setup the WEP on the laptop to get the laptop to connect to the router via wireless, regardless if it was used to setup the router, the wireless network is encrypted so it will need to be accessed by a computer(s) that have the key programmed into them. You can plug in the laptop into the hardwire Ethernet port for configuration, that is another option.
