Question about Ariston Technologies Ovens

1 Answer

Oven doesn't work - but the grill and light does!!

We own an Ariston FB36 GB Electric oven.
Last night, whilst being used we heard a 'click' sound and from then on the oven stopped working. It wasn't a fuse as the light in the oven was still on and the grill could still be used. The only problem was that the oven would not heat up.
Could you give us any idea to what's possibly happened? or recommend where or who to contact for help? (there's no help in the manual)
Thank you

We've taken the oven out, opened the back panel, and checked every wire that we could (visual tested -we don't have a OHM meter) Nothing stood out to be wrong, all wires attached etc.

Switched back on and the same thing happened - lights came on, but the oven or oven fan didn't work at all.

At a guess (an amateur guess!!) I'd say a faulty thermostat or elements.

Any idea how much the cost would be to have a specialist to check it and then supply and install either a thermostat or element? Or would we be better off buying a new oven???!!!

    Thanks for your advice

Turn off the breakers then back on. Then open up the panel cover and you may find fuses inside there. Check them with an ohm meter. Next you may have a wire that has come off the control switch or the element. Do either of the upper or lower elements work? Lastly, the t'stat may be bad. Let me know how you do.

If you can use an OHM meter, purchase one for about 15-20 dollars. It will not be money wasted. You can then check the t'stat and elements. I don't think however it is the elements because they all don't go out at once plus you say the fan isn't working either. Can you check the plug and see if the wires are properly fastened. You may have dropped a leg of power at the receptacle. Now, if you discover it is a bad t'stat, they can be purchased for 30- 40 dollars. If you got a tech out, you can look at 200 plus dollars to fix it. Let me caution you to disconnect the power first before installing the t'stat or whatever the part is. I know this is a lot to check, but it could be time well spent and a lot of money saved by doing this yourself. Hope this helps. Let me know when you get it fixed.

Both lights on the top oven work when using it as an oven but when using it as a grill, they don't! There doesn't appear to be any other fault as the oven and grill still work fine. Any thoughts...

The unit is working as it should. The top oven lights will only come on when the top oven control knob is turned on. The grill control does NOT turn the lights on. If you want to see what you are grilling, then you should turn the top oven control on to its first position. This works even if the grill is operating.

We just purchased a new ariston oven but there is no grilling tray. Were we supposed to buy the tray separate?

It should have been suplied with a grill tray of some description, go back to who supplied it for you, and ask them for one.

We do not get a clicking noise to light the oven like we do the burners. We can't get the oven to light

if the oven is electric start, you will not hear a clicking. more than likely it is the oven igniter going bad. be very carefull if you change it yourself, they are very fragile. hold on to base if possible.

Lights grill and fan work but oven isnt heating up

Hi there,

On our oven, we have to reset the clock before the oven will work. I think it's because of the automatic timer features.

Yours is a slightly different model, but on ours we have to press the two buttons with arrows on, at the same time as turning the clock dial. Once this is done, the oven should work again.

Good luck.

Sounds to like the oven element has gone, the red light indicates that power is going to your thermostat o/k.
Check the oven element.
