Question about Samsung SP46L3HX 46" HDTV-Ready DLP TV

2 Answers

My samsung has yellow jaundice!

4/5 year old 46'' Rear projection TV Model SP46L5HX, has got a bad tint of the yellow greens. Can I fix it myself? I tried the menu solutions but they didn't seem to change anything. Have I connected it incorrectly. If not, how can I tell which lamp has blown. My reds are strong and my YELLOW GREENS are very strong. Is it true that you have to replace all the lamps if you replace one, otherwise they are too hard to balance. Cheers

It seems one of the LCD panels has gone bad and would need to be replaced.

If all the tubes are lit then i would suspect from what you describe you have alge growth in one or all of you tubes. at the shop we would change the fluid called glycol., i rather involved procedure because once you remove the tubes then have to go through advance setup aligning them. We generally change all the fluid in all tubes although you can change in just one. The blue tends to be the one with the worst fluid problems.

My 46" Samsung DLP Rear

It's possible that the DLP chip is going bad. I'm not sure how much it would cost to repair it. If you have the part number you can search for it on ebay and probably find it cheap. I couldn't tell you how much it would cost to have someone repair it, or how to do it. I do know that diagnostics typically cost around 100.

My sony rear projection has a green tint to it. also in the bright white picture there is yellow in the background.

I han into this problem myself on my Hitachi Rear projection TV. The part that has gone bad is the "Light Engine", and is a common problem with rear projections. There are 3 mini LCD screens inside your TV. One Green/yellow, one blue and one red. When the heat builds up in the TV over time of usage, these screens will break...causing that color to "bleed" everwhere. My TV was under warranty when it happened, but the part itself would have cost upwards of $200-500 bucks and the labor is another $300-$500.

When the tech fixed my tv, he told me he would see me again within 2 years...and said I'd be better off getting a new TV. That is what the problem is. You can research "Light Engine" here on fixya, and you will find a TON of info on it...and a lot of people with the same problem.

Hope this helps ya.

Rear projection HD Hitachi Ultravision always has greenish tint

This is what you're going to do, Turn on the Tv and go to the service manual, if the green tint is still there, you have a defective dmd board, but if it's no there, then you have an issue with your video board

Green shading appears around faces of people on the screen

Try adjusting your TINT control in the menu.

IF the problem seems to be in a surtan area of the screen, the light engine is bad. This is very expensive to fix. You might want to buy a new tv.

46" Rear Projection Hitachi - Green / Yellowish Screen

daveT29 - I had my brightness cranked, too. The picture went dark and off-color after moving the TV from one corner of the living room to another.

After waiting for the TV repairman for about 4 weeks, I "fixed" it myself. Take the front panel off (4 screws, then a black panel) and blow out all the dust. I was afraid to use a swiffer duster because of the static electricity, so i just used with my mouth blowing powers.

That's it. Seriously.
