Hi i have an external 160 GB hard disk that i used at home i recently tried to restrict access for other users but i did that on my work pc and now when i plug that in my home pc and tries to open or copy or delete any document it says access denied, but i am able to open delete or copy documents on my work pc only as i have granted the owner to the drive myself on my work pc but now i have granted full access to "everyone" under users but i am still not able to open any documents on my home pc it say access denied as i am only able to view files but not access them.. SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

My verbatim 160 GB harddisk is not detected by the pc. i even bougth new cable and tried it but still the same. how can i fix it ?

Hi,

It's possible that you haven't enabled your hard disk in the BIOS set-up. Just go into your BIOS set-up and try to find your drives and check if your hard disk is enabled.

Get back here if you want clarifications.

Hope it helps.

Let me know.

Thanks!

External Hard Drive not Accessible after Windows Vista Update

Assuming that the external hdd is physically working fine, everything is pointing to a damaged boot sector.

You can get back most (if not all) your data stored in your external drive with the help of an application called: Pc Inspector File recovery.
Its a freeware.
Here is the link: http://pcinspector.de/Sites/file_recovery/download.htm?language=1#

Simply install it on your C:\ drive, and follow the prompts.
Please let us know the outcome.

Unable to access external WD 500 Gb drive: "You need to format the disk"

It seems vista is the problem. On older operating systems the disk's work fine. My dis was formatted with vista and as a result showed exactly the same message when plugging it into a xp system. Back on the vista it works fine. The ntfs is native to win NT/xp there might have been changes in vista. Also do not use the firewire cabling, i had numerious problems until i reverted back to the usb.
