Hi,
Please check both of your CD type and CD writer. You may have CD rom with DVD disc cause your computer is unable read the this. If everything is OK, you may have optical lens problem on computer. Please clean the lens with lens cleaner. If problem persist, replace your lens with new one.
Regards, Jay
1. your device is not a 'DVD-ROM' device, nor a 'CD-RW/DVD-ROM' combo device.
2. you need software, such as the free 'VLD' software, to decode the DVD, and to "play" the video.
3. your DVD-disk is scratched -- will it play in some other computer or stand-alone DVD-player?
1st step; Acquire/buy a cd/dvd rom drive cleaning tool kit from your local pc store.
2nd step; Install a dvd coder/decoder software, try Power DVD player software it has a trial version
3rd step; After installing the DVD coder/decoder from Power DVD player try playing a dvd movie rom disc it should work/play... hope these tips help ;-)
Hello. It seems for a software problem. Try installing newer codecs, or install a video player. Try this. Its a video player that neds no codecs installed http://kmplayer.en.softonic.com/download
should i assume that the drive work previouly with com dvd? my annlysis of this problem is that the dvdrom is not able to read the format the dvd is in. the format of the hard drive does not determine the ability to read or not read a dvd. that is the job of the optical disc.so dont worry about the format that is in.ok. the other aspect of the ability to read dvd is the software. windows media player and other that are of age has a inability to play some new format dvd. best bet install the newest version of power dvd put the disc and check should start automat pending setting you may need to go to my computer and double clickon the romdrive. let me know.
I think the problem is either software related, or is the disk itself.
Firstly make sure you have all the proper mpeg-2 decoders. I'd assume you do, but looking for an update for whichever software you use to watch the dvd may help. You should also troubleshoot the software by trying an alternative program and seeing if that helps. (if you use VLC, try cyberlink, etc.)
Secondly, there is a chance the actual distortion lies on the disk itself. You could narrow this down by trying the disk on a dvd player and the dvd rom, paying close attention to where the problems arise. If the dvd player and dvd rom both have trouble with the same section (or if the dvd player freezes in the same place the dvd rom starts to flake) the problem may be the disk.
In either case, I highly doubt your computer itself has hany flaws in it. It is either software, or the disk itself.
