I bought a PS3 in canada last year and now live in the UK. Since being here I have bought 2 games (Shaun White Snowboarding and Tomb Raider Legend) from a store in the UK both the games have PAL written on the cover which works fine. I recently bought another UK game(Farcry 2) and it wont play. This message appears on the screen.
"cannot play this game at the current video output settings (80028F10)" I dont think its a region problem because i've played both games from Canada and the UK on this console Please help me!!! Cheers

I am a gaming console repair technician and this sounds to me like there is a bug in the games code. You should inform the creators of the game (EA Sports) of this issue via their forum here: http://forum.ea.com/uk/categories/show/10.page;jsessionid=721E7F2EE8DB5EACDF21E4AADD07DAE8
Hi yeah most of the time you can't play foreign games. so sorry mate. on a homeland original console you can't play specific games from other areas. like America and Canada are same but America and england are not.
hello have you tryed another ethernet cable also turn the power off at the router take the lead out at the back of the router there should be reset button hold this in for 15 seconds re plug in everythink in hopeful it should work good luck
No you can't. At this time it's not possible. You could always make the discs you bought region free by copying them with dvdshrink or another program but as of now there is no hack for the PS3 and probably won't be one for another year.
You could try dual booting the ps3 with linux, but it's probably not worth all the effort.
I have one in the uk, some blue ray discs are region encoded (some work some don't). Uk DVD's don't work and neither do old uk playstation 1 or 2 games. However all PS3 games are region free and work fine.
The pal ps2 games and dvds will not play on a Japanese ps3 due to region coding. You can play all ps3 games and blu ray films because they do not use region coding. Some games will also play differently on a ps3, for example, Uncharted: Drakes Fortune (I highly recommend the game) will not have any blood on a Japanese ps3. The region coding feature can not be changed/modified. I would recommend returning Japanese ps3 and purchasing a European model instead if that is possible. Bon chance.
The problem with that is the PS3 that you bought is tuned for Japanese dvds and games, You may have to get your PS3 modded to support the French games. However I am unaware of the legality of having your PS3 modded.
