1 Answer

I have a AX4SgMax motherboard and I am unable to boot it up. I noticed that the board has a resettable fuse, could this be the problem and how do you go about resetting it?

Thanks for replying yanickv, when I hit the power on button, I get the green light come on and a red light onthe motherboard. I get nothing in the way of fan etc..., on the screen it starts to boot up a screen with very little white writting flashes up really quickly and goes to the safe mode selection window.

no matter what you choose, it just boots up the same way to that window.

Could it be the power supply, can get 1 cheap.
    Our is it the motherboard?
I have had 2 harddrives and 1 external harddrive lock up on me and cannot access them.

At the end of my teather.

    Hope you can help,
    Mike

No fans could indeed indicate a problem with your power supply...
Or your motherboard is broken.

Have you recently added extra hardware to your pc, like a new graphics card, or one of the harddisks you mentioned.
I suggest you try removing them from your system, if possible, and then try to boot again. If the pc then works, it's probably your power supply.
If not, your mainboard is probably broken. I suggest you try replacing it with one from another pc first, before you go buy a new one. If replacing it doesnt work, buying a new one will be of no use.

But then you've got the problem of removing a mainboard, which isnt exactly easy. So I guess it's up to you to find someone who can do that.

I hope this helps,
Yannick

Supermicro x8sax memory bank issues

The X8SAX motherboard has 6 memory slots. Try booting with one memory stick in each slot to identify which memory bank (dimm slot) is giving you issues. If you are able to boot off of a good slot, check the BIOS version to make sure you have the latest installed (R 2.0b). It can be downloaded here: Super Micro Computer Inc Products Motherboards Xeon Boards X8SAX

If you are unable to get into the BIOS at all, check the warranty status and submit an RMA request to Supermicro:

Go ahead and remove everything but the processor, heat sink, PSU, and the power connectors to the board and attempt to boot up like that. If you still are unable to boot up check to see if you have any yellow lights on your board, if so either your board or power supply are damaged.

I am using mercury 845gvml motherboard but having a problem in vga drivers

To set up vga you have to set the bios setting to the vga platform which you are using like intgated to on board ,pci to pci card and pci-E to pci express card .
Then boot pc and right click on my computer - manage-device manager-display adapter -and see any yellow mark in it .
if their is any mark then update the driver by keeping mother board cd in cd/dvd rom .
delete any non completable driver in it or you can use control panel to do this work .
if you are unable to boot in system then on boot screen press f8 to boot in vga mode or safe mode .and do all work recommended

Computer does not boot

If you computer over heated, this could have caused the board or power supply to short. I would first start by trying a new power supply unit (since this is cheapest of the options). If that does not work then try replacing the motherboard and/or processor. Since you not getting any power, my guess is motherboard or power supply unit.

Presario SR1030NX - with a ASUS A7V8X-LA motherboard, won't boot.

those are notoriously bad boards. i have worked on 2 or 3 of those boards and founds its adefect on some voltage regulator on motherboard..
best thing u can do is upgrade motherboard and cpu and ram in a combo.. don't forget power supply unit, new stuff needs at least 350watts
