Try reformatting your thumb drive. Here's how to do it on a Mac:

**THIS WILL DELETE ALL THE DATA ON THE DRIVE**

1. Open Finder
2. Applications 3. On the left column, you should see your thumb drive. Click on it.
4. Click on the "Erase" tab near the top
5. For "Format:" select "FAT32"

Just bought a sandisk 8gb microsd hc, but pc cannot detect

pen drives are very fragile HWs and bound to behave funny sometimes...if u have critical data in them u ....it may be lost for ever sometimes.....
only a low level format or a windows simple format can revive it back....even i as an expert have faced issues with my 8 GB kingston pen drive many times...so i have moved to using 4.7GB DVD RW disk media (DVD RW disk costs just a few $)....and they r re-usable/erasable/re-writable....and most of the PCs have a DVD drive now a days.....also resistance to any virus being writen on them from another infected system....but a pen drive can get infected with a virus, by just connecting it to the USB port....

Dear sir, I cannot format my 8Gb USB removable disc...while the formating its says that ur disc is protected...how can format then?

LLFTOOL is a utility for low-level disk drive formatting,
also supports formatting of FLASH cards using a card-reader.

1. Download this tool:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4040651/LLFTOOL.EXE

2. Format

(WARNING: After running this low level format tool,
the whole USB flash disk surface will be fully erased.
Therefore, data restoration will be impossible after using this utility!)

Sandisk Cruzer 8gb Error

Make sure you are logged in as an administrator. I'd also try the thumb drive in a different computer just to make sure the problem isn't with the thumb drive itself. The drive could also be unformatted, or formatted with a filesystem for a different platform that can't be read by XP.

I have a PNY 8GB Flash memory.I will like to know

Go to my computer and open it, and you should see the Flash Drive. Right click on it, and from the dropdown menu select format.. (It will be FAT 32)

As I am not familiar with your exact make of drive, check that IF it has a tiny slide protect switch on the side. If it has, try formatting it, if it won't, push the switch forward or back and it shouild then format.

As you do not give details of your computer, I cannot give further instruction for a your O/s.
If it's XP the drive should be recognised automatically, but if its Win98, it will need you to install the driver you got with it on the CD supplied.
