I got something like that off of ebay and it doesnt work. maybe you can go into your display properties and try to switch it there and see if that works

My acer aspire 9810 video died, can I use the vga port? so far no video out

You can switch to an external monitor or data projector by two methods. 1. Connect the external monitor to the laptop's video port, power up the external monitor first and the laptop. The video information will automatically switch to the external monitor. 2. If you power up the laptop first then you can switch the video output to the external monitor by pressing the Fn key and one of the Function keys, depending upon your make and model laptop. You can also toggle between the external monitor or both LCD screen plus the external monitor or back to LCD screen only by pressing the Fn key plus one of the function key a few times. Here is a list of key combinations for some of the laptops :- IBM ThinkPad = Fn + F7 HP and Compaq = Fn + F4 Toshiba = Fn + F5 Dell = Fn + F8

On most laptops you have to select Function F8 to direct output to the projector or the projector and the laptop display.

Hi.

Sure you can with a standard VGA video cable.

Maybe you will have to change your screen resolution to get the best display layout.

Hope it helps!

I have just bought an acer aspire 7720g laptop and i want to connect it to my 50" lg plasma tv, can you help

If your TV has a VGA input, you can use a regular VGA cable from the computer's external VGA connector.

If the set doesn't have a VGA input, you can get an adapter cable (here's one) to go from the computer to the TV's component video input.

You might have to enable the computer's external monitor from the keyboard. One of the function keys usually does this, see your computer manual.

Cannot get video to tv with vga to s-video adapter

try to use the vga output enable function key. it should be one of the "F-keys" (F5, F6...) hold the "Fn" key (generally in blue for the acer aspire 5520 series) and press a key that has a drawing resembling two monitors, but not the one that has a brightness drawing inside on of them, as it will turn off your main screen backlights. in the acer aspire 5520, it is the F5 key. look for a picture of this model's keyboard and you should see a similar key on your netbook as it is a manufacturer standard.

Connecting Dell Inspiron 1501 to TV, Windows Vista

The PC card you have doesnt appear to work with that adaptor. Dell Has its own Svideo / Video output adaptors.

You need a converter not an adaptor. Try looking on Amazon for this: ITV-900 PC to TV Converter

Usually one of the function buttons F5-F8 etc together with the FN button will toggle through from lcd to tv/external monitor to both.

Is the cable S-Video or does your tv accept a dvi or vga input?
Do you connect using the s-video output on the laptop or the standard external monitor port?
