I can't figure out how to put playlists on my iriver x20
What do i do?
i tried dragging the playlists i made on the computer into my iriver, but i think that just added the songs from those playlists. Or do i have to do it on my iriver when i put all the songs together???
Re: i can't figure out how to put playlists on my iriver...
Yea i know what ur talking about. unfortunately the iriver x20 can only read SOME types of playlists. for example the windows media playlist that some people use doesnt work but the .m3u files which u can convert on winamp does work. its a real pain i know but that's why i just add files while i listen to them on the music menu of the x20.
hope that helps!

try to upload the songs onto it with windows media player 11
i only use iriver plus 3 for videos
when ur in windows media go into sync then it has like a side bar just drag the music into that and down the bottom of the bar it says sync press that
and if that doesnt work u might have to buy a new one
yes this is correct, you can only have the same size memory card as what your iriver was originally. eg when I bought mine it was a 2GB so there for I could only add a 2GB memory card in it giving me a total of 4GB. if you buy a SD card of the same GB you wont have a problem
if it doesn't even appear on windows explorer either the sd card, usb link or iriver is defective. if all else fails try getting a memory card reader. this allows you to store files on the card through the computer and still be able to insert the card as external storage on the iriver x20. the only trouble with that is that its hard to get the card in and out of the iriver
Model number? Manufacturer name? Here's generic advice: use Windows Media Player 11 to transfer.
Here's more generic advice: turn ON automatic synchronization (if your mp3 player is a Philips, esp)
Here's more generic advice that can be applied to many mp3 players:
If users of X20 want to create playlist, please change connection type as MTP. ( X20 -> Setting -> Advanced -> Connection Type )
After then, you can create playlist with WMP11.
u can use the other mode to put the album art on it too....
just drag and drop the album art using wmp 11...
if that doesn't work the slow way is to use iriver plus 3 and add it manually.
i suggest organising your files by placing albums into individual folders with their album art...
u can also use other programs like itunes or winamp to add album art...
can i suggest you try rockox http://build.rockbox.org/ this will give you more than the regular ole iriver software.
but if you really want to start fresh back up the e10 iriver software, format you e10, re-install iriver software, add your media back (i've done this with my kids ipods also..and it works like new)
good luck............feel free to rate if helpful
yeah, basically all i did was change my settings to MTP.
then i went into internal hardrive (just in normal usb mode)
i selected the songs i wanted and right-clicked (make sure to do this one one of the songs you selected) in the options that come up it should say "create playlist" (in bold) i clicked that, it wouldn't let me rename the playlist... but it worked fine... and now they come up in the right place, i didn't even use Iriver plus 3.
If your player freezes on "Building Library" (usually a result of putting certain type of .m3u playlists or too big images in id3 tag):
1. Turn the player off - you may need to take the battery out to do this. 2. Hold the menu button in. 3. Still holding the menu button in, press the power button. 4. Keep holding both buttons in until you get a dialogue asking if you want to format internal memory ... say yes. 5. Your internal memory will be formatted and you will now be able to start your X20.
Try to figure out what file is causing X20 to freeze - i've found that pretty much any .m3u file will make it freeze on building library ... only about 2-3 out of about 100 i've tried have worked.
