Problem capturing audio from Hi8 Tape through...

I have a Sony TRV730 Digital 8 camcorder, and I can not capture audio
from Hi-8 recorded tapes when using the firewire port. I have a
Pinnacle DV200 capture card, latest drivers.
I've tried setting the media mode on the camcorder to Hi-8, 12-bit and
16 bit audio (this is an analog tape). Analog recorded tape plays
fine back on camcorder.
The system works fine when I am capturing Digital 8 recorded
programming, but does not work when capturing from Hi-8 analog
recorded tapes.
Can anyone help?

In Premier, select file-capture-movie. The capture window that pops up
should list your capture device at the bottom of the settings folder. If it
is not listed, then Premier is probably not seeing your firewire card. I
have an ATI AIW capture card with a firewire port, I have not been able to
make this work with my DV media converter, I use another cheap firewire card
that has never given me any problems.

The digital camcorder plays the analog Hi-8 tape back properly, I can
hear the audio played through the camera and the analog audio out.
But I can not capture the audio through the firewire port using either
Premiere nor Pinnacles DV Capture tool.
I have version 6.01 of Premiere, and version 2.0 of the Pinnacle
drivers.

If the Hi8 tape was recorded with PCM audio, it won't playback in a D8camera.
Can you hear the audio with headphones or out the audio jacks?
