Wireless mouse is not working properly

I just bought an HP Optical wireless mouse. It was working fine and now the red light is flashing and the green light on the USB thing comes on and off. And now the mouse is stopping and starting. I just bought it 2 days ago. There was very little information in the box it came in.

On the model I own you must press the button on dongle while pushing the connect button on the bottom of mouse. Did this while dongle was atached to PC.Try this before wasting money on new mouse. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse Not Connecting

Is your mouse is Microsoft Wireless notebook optical mouse model 1023?

re attach again you USB dongle to your mouse. then slowly remove your USB dongle from your mouse. If your Optical mouse lit. that's it. Insert the USB dongle to the USB port.

If not. Buy a new one.
Anyway, you'll have to change your mouse eventually.

SOURCE: Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse Not Connecting

I have the same mouse and I had to install the intellipoint 6.1 software that came with it, and it worked flawlessly. Then I sold a few of them that I had and mixed up the dongles in the sales and now none of them work. Trying to figure out if I can force a recognition or are they proprietary to only one mouse. Go to microsoft and see if the intellipoint 6.1 is a download.

There are 2 buttons to press
one is on the wireless thing you put into the computer
mine is a green light and doesn't look like something you would
press
but it is.
then I pressed the mouse underneath it says connect
and it worked.

This can happen when the battery's are starting to die. Replace the batteries and then test the device again.

Try replacing the batteries. Wireless mice do funky things when the batteries are low.

Flashing red light

Most wireless mice will hibernate after a short period of inactivity. If something bumps the desk or moves the mouse it will start scanning again. If you don't like the light, you could try a laser mouse (no red LED flashing).

Wireless mouse not working

Did you try
Normal 0 Turn the mouse over and find the small rest/connect button on the bottom of the mouse and press it to Reset/Connect the mouse to the receiver and work properly.
If not, try pressing the receiver button and then press the mouse. This should be done whenever you change batteries or glitch.
Hope this helps you. Bud
