Those ARE good systems. But if you visit the sites Dennis linked below,
you'll find that the same manufacturer's offer step-up systems in many price
ranges. I own and recommend the Definitive Pro Cinema 100 system, with Pro
80s in the rear to save a few bucks. Paired with a Kenwood VR-407 or Yamaha
RX-V596, the whole shebang would set you back just under $1,500. For $1,000
total, you really can't top the list Dennis gave you. The only problem is
finding dealers. Most of them don't sell online and you need to search the
websites for an audio shop near you that carries a particular line. Happy
hunting.

You will need a DD/DTS receiver with a phono input (or use a phono preamp)
and a set of speakers. You can get a Kenwood receiver (quite nice for the
price) for about $200-250, leaving about 750-800 for a 5.1 speaker setup.

Speakers to look at in that price range:

Energy Take 5 w/sub (#)
Mirage AVS-500 w/sub (#)
Psb Alpha Intro (#)
Psb Alpha w/sub
Paradigm Cinema (#)
Paradigm Atom w/sub
Sound Dynamics Cine Series (#)
Definitive Technology Pro Cinema 80 (#)
