try with some bootable DVD if it works that mean your diver is ok if not than you try to clean the lense of the drive with DVD lense cleaner, still if it doesn't work than you may need to change your drive.
I think you need to upgrade your Windows Media Player. Open the player, goto help and click on "check for updates". Once the update is completed, your player will play DVD's and movies.
Try restarting. If it doesn't work, data cable of the drive (CD/DVD Player) may need to be reseated (pull out and plug back in) inside the computer. You may want to call manufacturer or a local tech (if not in warranty) if you don't know how to (just to be safe).
Try Media player classic under k-lite codec pack. Then open video files on the dvd. If it doesn't help try another codec player. If nothing helps could it be that dvd player is not capable of multilayer dvd reading.
This weekend we were watching a movie.
It started to skip. I thought it was a dirty disk, took it out, cleaned
it with a dry cloth and put it back. Now nothing will play.
When
I insert a disk it starts to revolve the machine says reading, two
zeros appear and the it stops. My wife noted a message H02 and the manual says to call for an explanation.
We tried turning the machine off and on and we tried pulling the plug -- no luck. What is the problem?? Jeff
REstart the system and reinstall the DVD Player program that let the DVD Play.
maybe the DVD disc is required some codecs to play. try another player such as VLC player, or install the DVD player provided in your laptop DVD Rom. You can search and Download VLC player for free just search in google.
May this help, Please notify me before you rate, Thanks, Melnavz.
You can go around the problem, by not using Windows Media Player.
You can open up the device under My Computer>Device Name and manually drag and drop files onto it.
Best of Luck.
When you say it won?t read are you trying to play commercial DVD movies or read DVD data disks?
If you're trying to play movies then you need a couple of things the first being some type of player program. Real player works as does Windows media player but usually DVD drives come with a striped down version of PowerDVD or WinDVD.
If you in fact have a player installed and when a DVD is inserted in your drive it doesn't play it may not be configured to automatically play DVDs. Try opening your player program and trying to manually play your DVD.
Let us know if you have any success or if you need more assisted. If you do let us know what player program and operating system you have and any error messages that may appear.
