Please call dlink tech support at 877-453-5465. just an advise on how to handle the call when you reach dlink tech support (agent); do not agree to call back after you troubleshoot with them (they'll be giving you a case id reference# and be advising you to check your pc or call "who" and call them back to continue the troubleshooting). insist to the agent that he need to resolve the problem asap (by the way, agents are not allowed to drop the call or they'll be dead-history!). and if the agent still insisted you to call back, ask for a "senior level technician" to finish the job (escalate the problem).
fyi: dlink tech support handling time to resolve a call is 15 to 18 minutes only. if you reach that 15-18 minutes (max) time the agent will think of a way for you to call back (advising you to check with your pc manufacturer, check with your ISP, call microsoft to update your software, etc... non-sense!) they need to do this in order to reach their handling time (agents need to reach 21 to 25 billable calls, and billable calls are "solution provided", "resolved", and "dropped call"). ---- believe me, i was one of them and repented.

Laptop will not allow router to connect because software does not support. need to sownload drivers to laptop but cant find out how

You'll need to locate the manufacturer of the wireless device in your notebook.

If it is built-in, go to the notebook manufacturer's web site and download the latest drivers for your particular notebook model's wireless card. If your wireless card is a PC card that you purchased separately and slipped into a slot on the notebook, you'll need to pop it out and determine than manufacturer's name andmodel for the card. Go to the manufacturer's web site to download drivers for the card.

Download drivers that are for the OS used on the computer (Mac, Windows XP, Windows 7, 32 bit or 64 bit)

I hope this was helpful!

Problem with downloading router driver/firmware

You don't need software for the router. Is your wireless encrypted or open? Just view avaiable networks with your xp machine and choose your network to connect to. If you do have an encrypted signal use the vista machine and type in the ip address to the router in your browser window. I think belkins router ip is 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.0.1 Hope this helps, let me know

Hello! It is possible to install it without the CD< but not easily >You will need to, On a separate computer, Go to Linksys.com and download the drivers, then just burn them to a CD< or Put them on a flash drive, and install it on the laptop. Unless the laptop has a Ethernet port, then just connected the computer to the linksys router VIA Ethernet to download the drivers.

I just bought a belkin g router so i could get wifi on my ipod touch. my ipod says its connected with the network but the internet wont work on my ipod.

Do you have a modem?Did you subscribe with an internet service provider? If no then you need to subscribe to an ISP because the router alone will not give you internet. If yes, you have an ISP, then tryTry to isolate the problem by using a wireless laptop, if you can connect wirelessly on your laptop and go online then there is a setting to be check on your IPOD,. If you are not online with the laptop you have to make sure the router is configured correctly or check if you can go online directly to the modem.

Connecting my router

If its a wired connection it will automatically know that its connected to it. With the wireless you need to veiw the available networks before you can connect to the network. And if the router is already configured for internet they will automatically get the internet connection.
If you need help to make sure that the router is online. Kindly provide me with this info;

Internet service provider:
brand or model of Modem from internet service provider:
Operating system of the computers:

thanks.

Wireless computer not having internet access

Hi Heathcass,

Ok, generally, you must have the the modem connected to the wireless router throught the port marked WAN and the the computer that is directly connected to the router (if options like that are available), though the lan port.

That said, there could be a few reasons for your computer not being able to connect to the wireless router. Please ensure that:

  • Your computer has a wireless adaptor and that that proper drivers and software for the computer using the wireless adaptor have been loaded into the system.
  • The physical cabling are all intact and firmly connected.
  • You are able to "see" the access point by ensuring that the software loaded into the computer to be connected wirelessly says "you are now conencted to the access point and the internet"
If all these are up and running, there should not be ny problems. However, if you do face problems, try to identify the arena of error by doing a ping test. Follow these steps:

  • Go to Start>Accessories>Command Prompt and open program
  • Type ping www.yahoo.com -t This is done to ensure that there is a connection to the internet.
  • If you ger a respond that says "unable to send ping packets" or something like that, with a failure report of "request time out", you might need to reset the the WAP or modem by powering it off and on.
  • re run the ping test to see if connection is established.
whilst these are some simple troubleshooting steps, please do not hesitate to revert back to me if you should find there should be any trouble. Also, please dont forget to rate this solution if it has helped you in any way. Thank you.

NETGEAR wgr614 cable wireless router

Hello,
have you tried to follow the manual chapter 3, page 3-1 ?
If you lost your manual you can find one here:
http://kbserver.netgear.com/pdf/wgr614v6_ref_man_20Apr05.pdf

One of your computers can go online because its using a wired connection to the router, but the wireless clients cannot access the connection - is this right?

Then you only need to setup the wireless part in the router.
