I get blotches on my printouts on my Brother HL5270. I have tried "cleaning sheets" and also tried the toner and drum from another Brother printer which prints OK - still get the blotches, so...

First, the print head may be getting clogged and you need toremove the print head and soak (a couple of hours) it in warm distilled waterto dissolve the dried ink. Blot the print head dry with a lint free cloth beingcareful not to rub the electronics. Second, the new ink cartridges (if they arenot OEM) could be causing a problem. Reloaded or second party cartridges maynot always match the specifications for quality required by the printermanufacturer and may accelerate "gumming of the print head". Anotherpossibility of this problemis toner leak. Check if your toner leaks in the rubber filter and cause it to fall and the quality of your prints badly. Hope this willhelp you. Good Luck.

HP 2600n gray background darkness throughout paper

Ehh, after futher reading it seems, as long as the EBT is not physically damadged, it is fine. So it all points back to the fuser. Ebay for $75 genuine HP.

But for others, just to rule out anything simple, disconnect from computer, and reset to factory defaults. Print Demo page. If still looks ugly, nothing to loose, run the service menu cleaning option, basicly heats the fuser very hot and passes a paper very slowly to catch any excess toner. I have never seen this cleaning option help but you never know. And if your print still looks like ****, you can save your beloved slow printing laser jet, replace the fuser.

Awsome instructions...

Blotches of black on both sides of paper

The black slodges are most likely to be caused by the dev unit dropping black toner. Swap the black devs around and vaccum any loose toner out of the machine. The problem with the other one it that the magenta toner pump could have a fault. I would try this before cleaning the toner tubes.

Thanks Jason

Oki C5300 toner "leaking" on to surface

1 - take out all consumables
2 - use canned air to clean interior (do it outdoors)
3 - spray toner cartridges to remove stray toner (keep them connected to the drums, do not separate)
4 - make sure toner carts are properly installed and locked down
