When trying to sort a Wordperfect 12 document, the program closes

I have tried to use the disk and fix install problems plus have tried to reinstall. Nothing has worked. The problem exists regardless of which way I try to sort the document. Just immediately closes Wordperfect.

Backed up files, completely uninstalled Wordperfect, then reinstalled, rebooted and the problem was resolved.

TRYING TO INSTALL WORDPERFECT OFFICE 12 FOR FHOME USE ONLY ON MY LAPTOP. HAVE WINDOWS 7 INSTALLED. WILL NOT COMPLETE INSTALLATION. SAYS ERROR AND CLOSES OUT.

WordPerfect 12 is almost certainly incompatible with Windows 7 -- and is the reason you are getting the error message. The current version of WordPerfect is X4 -- at least 3 upgrade versions from version 12.

The drivers in version 12 were for Windows 98 / 2000. It would have worked OK with XP and maybe even Vista - but Win-7 is a new OS altogether. Sorry, but it sounds like you may need to do an upgrade.

Friends computer tries to re-configure WordPerfect Office 12 on every boot. Keeps trying to find the installation disk & re- install. After cancelling many times the program runs fine, but very...

What I would advise you to do is to open the control panel and go to "Add or remove programs" for windows xp and "Programs and Features" in Windows Vista. Locate Microsoft Word Perfect and click on it. Click on "change" The next option, put a dot on the "Repair installation errors in this program...." If it asks you for the disk again. Change the path of installation file to c:\windows\system32 Hope this helps!

Wordperfect crashed in the middle of working on a document

Find the WP directory and locate the backup file. Copy it to somewhere else.

The directory will be something like WordPerfect\12\Backup with various other directories on the front of that such as c:\program files\ etc.

Open the copy and see how much of the original is present.

Wordperfect 12 keeps crashing each time I start working on a document and attempting to edit. It only stays open for a second before crashing and it keeps happening over and over. So frustrating. What do I...

The document is probably corrupted.

Try a different document - save it under a new name and edit away.

If the problem does not recur, the other document was corrupted.

I had this same problem the other day.
I save often under different file names because my work computer is not stable.

Just get another install disk. Borrow one from a friend.

Then all you will need is your serial number.

Reinstall and try that.

Window XP Home Edition Reinstallation?

If you did a reinstall of the Microsoft Widows XP or Vista and expected Microsoft Word documents to be usable without also reinstalling Microsoft Word you are out of luck. Microsoft Word is a seperate software suite. You can do one of the following:
1. Use openoffice to work with the word docs (openoffice.org for the free download)
2. Get ahold of MS Office from either a store purchase or a friend with a volume license.
3. Download from Microsoft.com the trial version of MS Office 2007 and use it until the trial runs out.

Hope this helps.
