I recently purchased the device listed below and when I ried to use I received a message that it was either not formatted or formatted for a Macintosh. How do I format it for use with my Dell PC?

Hi there,

Your usb stick could be formatted in either 2 ways:

1) If you go into "my computer" or "computer" (depending on if you are using XP or Vista/7) and you see your usb stick on that list, you can right click on it and select "format". You can just accept the defaults it gives you and hit ok and it will format it to be used on your computer. If it doesn't show up in "my computer" then there is another thing you can try:

2) If you right click on "my computer" or "computer" there will be a menu that pops up, select "manage" from this list. Once a new windows opens up, on the right hand side you will see "disk management". Select this. You will now see a new list of all the hard drives/usb drives on your system. You can right click on your usb stick and hit "format" in the same way as 1.

DISCLAIMER: Make sure that you select your usb stick from these lists, and not your computers hard drive. If you accidentally format the hard drive you will lose everything on your computer.

Hope this helps and if you need any more help just leave a comment here and I will get back to you.

Format micro SD card

Hi, The quickest way would be to insert micro SD card into an SD adapter or plug it into some card reader, then stick it into the computer's usb port. Proceed to "My Computer" right click onto memory card and select "Format".

I hope this helps.

W490 wont read memory card

Hi, sykko_one, I have the exact same phone and was experiencing the same problems. After about a year of using my phone and storing music, pictures, videos, etc. on my phone it would suddenly stop working. Sometimes it would work, and sometimes I wouldn't be able to save or read any data on the memory card. What I did to fix it was completely remove the memory card from the phone and used a micro sd Tinpec card reader, picture here. You want the one that supports micro sd. You can find them on ebay or amazon. Then connect your micro sd card to your pc with the adapter and right-click the removable drive (might be drive e: or f:) and choose format. Leave the default options and format the disk. Make sure you've selected the right disk. To verify this you can open the drive and look at the contents, it should have a folder called "moble." Go ahead and format the drive. Then use chkdsk.exe from the command line to check the disk for errors. Syntax will look like "chkdsk f: /f" or "chkdsk e: /f" (depending on the drive letter assigned to your sd card reader.)

If the format and chkdsk do not work. try just deleting all the information from the card and copying some pictures and music files to it. If these copy successfully then I would assume the problem is with the firmware on your phone. Take the phone to a t-Mobile store and see if they can't re-load the firmware. And don't worry about deleting any data from your sd card, it will not affect the phone in any way, it will just delete whatever pictures music files you have stored on the card. So be sure to back those up first before you do anything. Hope this helps. -Rogueelite

http://hddguru.com/download/software/HDDGURU-Low-Level-Format-Tool/LLFsetup.2.36.1181.exe
Install that, then run the program and CAREFULLY select your card from the formatting list
then do a low level format
Then format it on windows or phone or whatever

PLEASE BE CAREFULL NOT TO SELECT YOUR HARD DISK IN THE PROGRAM. IT WILL VAPORIZE ALL YOUR DADA
