Re: I can't find my wep key for 3800hg-b
You need to reset your router. Look on the back of the router. There should be a reset option. Press and on the rest button with a stick pin or something. Unplug the cable/dsl modem from the ac outlet. Then unplug the router from the ac. Plug the cable/dsl modem back in wait a few minutes then plug in your router. You need your router setup software again so you can rest your wifi security. When you are setting it back up you can see your WiFi key you can log on.

If you require the WEP key for the wireless network you will have to log in to the router interface and retrieve it. You can try the following steps..
1) Open internet explorer on any computer connected wired to the router. ( IF no computer is connected then connect your laptop through an Ethernet cable to the LAN slot on the router)
2) Delete everything from the address bar and type http://192.168.2.1 and hit enter.
3) Towards the left side under wireless click on security.
4) Now it will ask for the login password, do not type anything..just hit enter.
5) Now you will be in wireless security page. You should see Key 1, Key 2, Key 3 and Key 4. The check mark selected on either of the four with number or numbers and letters in it are the password. Make a note of it.
6) Now connect to the wireless network using the keys u made a note of.
Hope this helped.
Not exactly sure what you're trying to do so I'll go over a few things. If you're just trting to connect to a secured wireless network, click on the little icon in your task bar on the bottom right hand of your screen. Click" Connect to Networks" or "Connect or Disconnect" something similar to this. A list of wireless networks in range will appear. Click on the one you want to connect to and it will prompt you to put in the WEP key whick is usually written on the bottom of the router somewhere, if its not, connect your router to your computer with a cord. Open Internet explorer and in the search bar type 192.168.1.1 (This may vary but is usually similar...i e. 192.168.0.0, 192.168.0.1...etc. Just look up the router on google and it will tell you.) Anyway, after you enter this in the search bar, hit enter, now you are in your router. If you havent changed anything, the user name should be admin and password is either blank or password from here, go to wireless security. you can change the wep key here. Hope this helps.
In order to get the wifi WEP key for your network, turn over the bottom of the modem- the default WEP key is on a sticker- Bar that, on your pc open up a web browser, type in 192.168.1.1 in the address bar- by default the user name and password are admin and password- go to the wireless tab, and basic security settings- the WEP key would be listed there
Most of the 2wire gateways have the WEP key or the encryption code on the bottom of it. It would a 10 digit Number of a Five Character one within square brackets. Other wise you can go to the gateway page by accessing http://192.168.1.1 on another system which is already going online using the gateway or wired to it and in the gateway page under wireless you would find the WEP key incase the default key on the bottom of the 2wire does not work.
Do reply incase this has resolved your issue or you need more help.
The WEP number is in a wireless router near you, you must have a wireless router been setup in your home, then you have to program it. you choose your wep key code and only will have access to this wireless network.
contact your local IT or computer repair guy to help you with this process.
you need a WEP key i'm guessing you're trying to say. go to a browser, type in the address bar http://192.168.0.1 and then login. the defult login name is either user or admin. the defulte password is either password or 12345. after logging in, find the menu that says wireless. from there you can either disable the WEP key, or write down the WEP key and type that into your laptop when it tries to connect. disabling the WEP key brings down your internet local security, but is not a problem is you don't live too close to anyone
Have you tried inputting the necessary security code to your HP laptop? Most if not all BT1800HG wireless router modem comes pre-configured to use a certain WEP code.
In your HP laptop go through the WiFi configuration/Setup. Select option to use WEP security, type in required code normally found on the bottom of the BT1800HG. The numbers and/or characters below the bar code is the WEP code.
Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.
