Is all of your water gone from the water resevoir? If so, it has drained into the bottom of the housing unit. As a precautionary measure Miele has put a "Watersystem Default" which deactivates the unit to protect from electrical damage. We called an authorized Miele repair service and they came out, took the unit apart, drained and dried out unit, I also opted to replace the seal underneath water resevoir unit as an added service, and 557.00 later.....it was working fine. At least until 6 months later, which was last week....it did it AGAIN!!!! I am opting to save my money and upgrade to a plumbed in unit to avoid this again. Apparently, after discussing this for about an hour with a Miele rep, it is one of the biggest reasons they discontinued this model so quickly. Go figure!

    Hope this helps.

Watersystem fault

Hi bird_gl,

Most often Water system fault occurs when the water tank is not seated properly allowing water to drain out of the tank and into the base. You can easily fix this by following the steps below.

1. Please remove the water tank.

2. There is an access opening like a round hole in the base beneath were the tank fits into the machine.

3. Using an absorbent cloth material dry the water through this opening. Please be patient, it can take sometime.

4. Once the water is gone the machine will operate normally again.

You are encountering "Water system fault" because water has seeped into the pan beneath the coffee maker. There are alignment pins on the tank that fit into holes in the coffee machine. Make sure this alignment holes are clear of any debris. Coffee beans have been known to make their way into these openings. Please use a flashlight and a small mirror to see down into the alignment holes.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Miele coffee system cva 615. Message: Water System fault. What can I do?

More then likely there is nothing wrong with the water seal but simply the tank was not placed properly over the seal and water was bypassed to the reservoir. If a significant amount of water sits in the reservoir the "Water System Fault" trouble will appear and stop operation. The easiest way to remove the water from the reservoir is with an inexpensive ($5) siphon tool available at any auto parts store. Once the water has been removed and you can operate the machine and it goes through the "Warming" sequence you will receive a "Air in water System" alert. Follow the simple directions in the manual to correct this trouble and your system is back to normal. I have heard people have been charged by technicians up to $600 to fix this trouble and told the seal had to be replaced. Just take care when placing a full water tank back into place and enjoy : )

What does ventilate mean?

Hi,

"Ventilate" simply means that there is an air pocket caught in the system and running water through it can fix the problem. When the ventilate message appears, you will need to run hot water through your steam/hot water wand as if you were going to fill your cup with hot water. If the message does not go away after doing so, you will have to run hot water through your wand continuously into an empty container (emptying one full water reservoir if not more). Once your display screen reads "Select Product, ready for use," you will be ready to brew delicious coffee again.

Let me know, if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Miele coffee machine shows"watersystem fault"

Hello Wiesiek1,
The water system fault means that there is too much water on the bottom drip pan and it has tripped the sensor at the bottom of the machine. Usually removing the bottom grate where the cups sit and taking some paper towels and soaking up the water/spillage will fix this problem

Where can I buy Miele coffee system instruction book?

You have to buy descaling tablets from miele.  You turn the knob to program mode and keep pushing the enter button until you get to descaling.  You put two descaling tablets into your water reservoir and replace into unit.  Put containers under the steam valve and the hot water wand. Press enter.  Turn steam valve al the way on.  Keep an eye on the containers.  The process takes about 30 to 40 minutes.  The message will appear 'Descaling finished." Turn steam selector to O and press enter.  Display will read "rinse machine, fill watertank.  Fill tank and return to machine.  Place empty containers beneath hot water dispenser and steam nozzle again and turn steam selector fully on. Allow water to run through system completely.  When process is finished, display will read "Rinsing Finished."  Turn steam selector to O and press enter  Program selector is on Program Mode and display will read Descaling, Timrt, unit is no descaled and ready to use.  Turn program selector to on.

Watersystem fault

This is a design flaw of the Miele CVA610 and CVA615. If the water reservoir is not properly installed, it will leak into the sump. The only solution is to have a turkey baster on hand for this invevitable situation. This has been confirmed to me by both a Miele technician and their technical support people.

Watersystem fault

Thanks for the solution . I fixed my "Watersystem fault" . The wet switch in the unit is activated when water gets into the base of the machine to prevent water damage to the cabinetry .
