Question about Sega Genesis Console
Ive had my Sega Genesis for a long time, 12 years I believe. I recently pulled it back out for my college dorm room and everything works except for one problem. In games such as paperboy, and NBA Jam, my progress or high-scores wont be recorded. This is especially annoying for NBA Jam in Tournament mode. I read that it could be an issue with a battery inside the system. Anyone know the problem?
Usually, there were battery backups in the cartridges, not the console. If you can get the cartridges open (usually a tool can be found on eBay for a few dollars) you can replace the lithium battery inside. You might want to leave the game in with the console going first-some of the batteries would recharge that way, but it's unlikely-the battery is at the youngest 11 years old.
