Question about HP Photosmart C5280 Printer

6 Answers

I have an HP Photosmart C5280 connected to my wireless network. It suddenly stopped printing in the middle of a job, giving no error message. Now all attempts to reset and restart are ineffective; it either says it's printing when it's not, or says the printer is busy. Help!

Now the printer says it is busy every time a job is sent to it. All jobs have been deleted, everything has been restarted, cables reconnected, etc. I don't know where the drivers are on a Mac or how to uninstall and reinstall, etc. It did just stop in the middle of a job and then start doing this.

  • daveburkey Feb 18, 2009

I reinstalled the software and got the same results. The printer is available and ready, but when a job is sent, it then says it's busy, and nothing happens. I clear the job every time and start over, with the same outcome.

  • daveburkey Feb 19, 2009

I have tried reinstalling drivers, etc. and it doesn't work. The last couple of steps always fail- something called the HPIO Trap Monitor always quits unexpectedly, and then at the very last step, my printer can't be found. When I write it in, it shows up, I click on it, and then it disappears again. I have no idea what the problem is, since, as I mentioned, we have successfully printed from this printer on both our laptops. It just started doing this out of the blue!

    hello their again..

in your situation we already try our best to fix on it.

but i think and sure the problem is not in the software anymore it is on the hardware.

so i prefer to you to go for a computer shop and ask for technician assistance about this matter..

we know it will cost you for payment but it is much better than to buy again with a higher value..

hope you will follow my advice..

    thanks..

Hello there! thanks for using Fixya.com!

I suggest that close all the connections that you have. Disconnect the wireless connections from your laptop or pc to the printer and then start all over to connect the printer to the pc again.

Or simply, check the access point if its working properly. Switch on/off the printer, and check the printer settings as well.

Or you may do this to troubleshoot your device:

The IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway addresses for the computer are sometimes needed when setting up a network. Viewing the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway addresses

  1. Click Start .
  2. Click Run . The Run dialog box displays.
  3. In the Open: text box, type command and then click OK .
  4. At the command prompt, type ipconfig and then press Enter . The network settings for the computer display, including the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway
The wireless adapter settings on a computer are needed when setting up a wireless network. View the wireless adapter settings
  1. Open the Control Panel .
    • Category view : Click Start and then click Control Panel .
    • Classic view : Click Start , click Settings , and then click Control Panel .
  2. Double-click Network Connections .
  3. Right-click the wireless network connection and then click Properties .
  4. Click the Wireless Networks tab.
  5. Select the wireless network and then click Properties . The wireless information displays, including the Network Name (SSID) and network key. NOTE: The network key is case sensitive and might be longer than the box can display. Place the cursor in the box and use the right arrow key to view all of the characters
This document gives general instructions for printing from a Bluetooth-enabled device. Refer to the documentation that came with the Bluetooth-enabled device for more detailed information. NOTE: The printer can establish a Bluetooth wireless connection with only one device at a time. The device must wait until the original connection is closed before it can establish a new connection. NOTE: The HP all-in-one does not support Bluetooth Hardcopy Cable Replacement Profile (HCRP) - Bluetooth devices can send images for printing only. Printing from a camera phone There are two possible ways for printing photos from a camera phone; printing from the imaging application or from a “Print” application. Printing from an imaging application Follow these instructions to print photos from an imaging application.
  1. From the imaging application, select Send via Bluetooth .
  2. The phone searches for Bluetooth devices. After the phone locates Bluetooth devices, select the appropriate printer.
  3. If prompted for a Passkey, enter it.
Printing from a printing application The following method can be used if the camera phone has a printing application. (The Print application software can be downloaded from the phone manufacturer's Web site.)
  1. Press the Menu button.
  2. Select the print application.
  3. Select the item to print.
  4. Either select Find Printer or Accept the printer selected.
Printing from a digital camera NOTE: These are general instructions. Refer to the camera documentation for detailed instructions.

  1. Tap HP Image Zone .
  2. Select the desired image to print.
  3. Tap File , then Print . Figure 1: Tapping File, then Print

    I have this another solution:

    1. Go to the Printer itself.

    2. Select network settings.

    3. Assign an IP Address like 192.168.10.2

    4.Then, go to your laptop.

    5. Go to Print Option, select add printer and then create a port option and select on which port then select TCIP port and enter your IP address.

    6. Restart the laptop, and try to print a test page only.

Unplug the printer from power and restart computers that are using this printer on the network, then plug back the printer and test it.

If still no luck ping the printer IP to check if printer is on the network, if it is not on the network, reinstall the printer on network.

Check also the printer cue on computer and empty it.

Then the printer buffer has a problem.

Unplug printer from power for ten minutes to reset everything (turning off is not enough) and restart the computer.

If still does not work after restart you need to test the printer as a local printer (connected with USB).

If the printer does not even work when connected to USB, then the printer is faulty.

    Test it out.
