Re: What is the best way to clean a Playstation 2...
If you are having problems with a play station 2, the first thing you need to do is buy a staples cleaning disk. once you have the disk all you have to do is put the CD in and play track 2. this will make your ps2 eye adjust so that the brushes on the disk will wipe it clean of dirt and other stuff.

Try to play a game that you don't usually play.
If it's clicking might need to check the three little needs in the center of the cd tray one might have fallen and it's inside the cd tray and could be scratching up your games
Check if there is anything lodged inside where you close the front. or run a disk cleaning sequence with the Maxell or Radioshack(<---- works the best) disk cleaner. Run it three times. Plus you don't have to watch or listen when it is playing, just in the beginning.
It is highly possible that your Laser Lens has melted. You can try to clean the lens. Do Not use alcohol. It is best to use a toothepick lightly to swipe the dust from the lens. If your Lens is Melted, you will need a new laser. Post a picture of your Laser in here and I can tell you which part number you need.
