My hp 2410 printer always needs to be rebooted before it prints
I just got an hp psc 2410, and was superexcited. I have it connected to my imac, and a week later I am getting extremely annoyed. Everytime I try to print (Microsoft Word documents), I have to turn the printer on and off or else it will not print. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!!

HP no longer provides support for drivers for this printer. The newer Windows OS will support the printer natively, but sometimes it requires a little finesse from the user. Here is a link to an HP forum where folks tell how they worked out the communications issue for the print and scanning functions. Hope this helps! adding hp psc 2410 printer to windows 7
Make sure you inserting the paper not deep inside just insert and stop it when you feel any resistance .and try to print something. If it is print then well otherwise you have to show it service center.
"Unplug the printer cable from the computer.
"Unistall the printer drivers from Device manager and also unistall the all the printer appications
"restart the computer
"try to download drivers from the website
"after installing drivers and software it will ask you to connect the printer.
"then you can connect the printer and and try to Print the test page.
Check to make sure your PSC 2410 is in fact the default printer. If it is, make sure your cable is firmly plugged in to your printer and CPU. Clear the print queue. Turn off and restart printer. I have found that your problem is basically a communication problem between the computer and printer. Also check www.hp.com. Good luck.
You need to set up the software on the iMac. The reason it gives you that error message is because it can't communicate with the computer and imaging software as the computer doesn't see the scanner and can't communicate with the printer's control interface. The iMac may see the printer and be able to print without any additional software because the driver package for the printer portion may already be installed with the OS X HP printer driver support. You didn't mention whether or not you could print from OS X. I am assuming you can. Faxing and copying from the unit doesn't use the computer at all and doesn't need to communicate with it. Scanning and printing do. If you can't print either then none of the driver or support software is installed and you have to set it up. You can get the instructions for setting the printer up in OS X 10.5 from HP. Just click here and it will take you to the page with the instructions.
