Radio antenna issue

Hello, I had to replace the radio in my caravan due to the prior owner having 8 pennies inside of it burned out the boards and made a couple of the pennies black and straight burnt. I went out and found a kenwood for 50 bucks and went to throw it in to find I had to soder wires onto the old wires to make it work, it did have 2 batt wires which I didn't understand why so I sodered 1 and set the other aside along with a couple others I didn't need I left in the old radio adapter. I then went to plug in the antenna after I checked if it worked and the antenna plug was too large. Went back to the store and bought a antenna multi-adapter, had no dodge one on the 5 choices but the chrysler fit so we used that. However the problem I am having is the radio keeps sounding like it is losing reception and soun d will go down and up constantly and at times give me static. I am thinking perhaps I need to find a dodge adapter but I do not know for sure. If anyone can help me that would be greatly appreciated.

Suburban radio

Seeing how you have two different issues I would have to say that it is no the antenna but the radio itself. The siris has an antenna jack and the IPod is unrelated to the antenna port. The main board for the radio is out and much easier to replace the radio.

Factory stereo not working and needs replaced. how does dash come apart to do this

REMOVAL

  1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
  2. Remove cup holder.
  3. Remove trim panel above cupholder by pulling straight out.
  4. Remove center instrument panel trim panel.
  5. Remove screws holding radio to instrument panel.
  6. Pull radio rearward to gain access to the back of radio (RADIO). CAUTION: Pulling the antenna cable straight out of the radio without pulling on the locking antenna connector could damage the cable or radio.
  7. Disconnect the antenna cable by pulling the locking antenna connector away from the radio (ANTENNA TO RADIO).
  8. Disconnect bolt holding ground strap to the radio (if equipped).
  9. Disconnect the wire connectors from the back of the radio.

I have a 1996 maxima with stock radio. The radio and everything works fine but the screen is dead. Is there a way to fix it without buying a new radio? Also my antenna wont go down. I hear the motor but it...

No fix for that screen , too costly and cheaper to purchase a new one. The cable inside the antenna is broken . Wrecking yard fix but check it prior to purchase.

The automatic antenna does not rise when the radio

I disagree with Duane. What you need to do is turn on the ignition and power up the radio. If you hear the motor trying to work, you can try giving gentle assistance to the antenna as it may need cleaning/greasing. Turn the radio back off. You can have someone help you or you can hit ON and quickly step out and gently try to assist the antenna up. If it goes up, it probably needs to be cleaned and greased. This happened on my 300E before.

If you hear NOTHING from the antenna motor, you may need to check the cable that connects to the motor. It might be loose. If you can verify that power is reaching the motor and you are getting no result, then the motor may be burned out. But check all of the alternatives first as replacing the motor itself is much more expensive than the cables and such.

My 96 dodge grand caravan has no radio reception

This seems to be a common condition amongst Chrysler vehicles. If it fades in and out while driving then the problem is inside your radio. If it's just lousy all the time I would try tugging lightly on the exposed part of the antenna lead on the pass. side near the heater box. If that clears the problem then you've got to pull the face plate off the radio and possibly the whole cluster and then remove the radio just enough to remove and pinch the radio end antenna receptor.

Hi... We just bought a used 2004 nissan quest, the radio was working fine then all of a sudden one day it stopped working. Anyway to fix it??? Thank you

Hello,
I just bought a 04 quest, and my radio would go out also. If you tap the console from the side, or you go over railroad track and it comes in and out, then there is a penny or some kind of change in the CD player. It also shorted out my DVD system. I went to the GV Electronics to have the dealership replace the DVD/TV, and they found a penny shorting out the Disc Player. (the previous owners kid must have put a penny in the CD hole.)

Controls for radio/cd player work on and off.

I had similar issues with my audio being mute intermittenly. I ended up being a penny in the CD player slot. (I think the previous owners kid put a penny thru the CD player slot) It also shorted out my DVD system, the DVD player would not come on. The dealership where I bought it seen me to GV Electronics to have my DVD player replaced, and they removed my CD Player and heard change banging around in the Player. After dis assembling it, they found the penny. Everytime I hit a bump or go over railroad tracks, the audio would mute.

1993 Dodge Caravan - 207,000 kms Apparent electrical issue(s): - left turn light flashes double fast - gas gauge often reads empty regardless of amount of fuel in the tank - radio has quit entirely (used...

Hi, concerning the left turn signal, this is caused by a faulty or defective flasher relay switch. this is easily replaced and once replaced with a new relay, it will fix this erratic flashing issue you are having. Now, concerning the gas gauge issue. the reason for the non response here is because of a malfunctioning sending unit that is located inside the actual tank. it is part of the fuel pump assembly and it will need to be replaced.

OK, this is concerning the dead radio issue. i would first check the fuse to see if it is ok. if the radio fuse is fine, this will more than likely be an internal circuit issue within the radio itself and, you will have to replace the factory radio. most factory radio systems tend to get really hot and this is not good. it usually ruins the internal circuit board in time, completely rendering the radio useless. i would still make sure the fuse is good. it could be as simple as a blown radio fuse. i will post a step by step guide below that will help you replace the flasher relay.

FLASHER RELAY SWITCH REPLACEMENT GUIDE--

Step1 Locate the fuse box under the dash on the driver's side of the Caravan. Look near the emergency brake. The fuse box cover has two finger screws that you should loosen to remove the cover. Inside you will see a collection of fuses and in the upper right corner a few relays. Step2 Find the turn signal hazard flasher relay in the upper right corner of the fuse box. It should be easy to spot as it is the biggest of the relays in the box. Remove the relay and replace it into the socket from which you just pulled the bad relay. The placement into the socket is tight and can be difficult, but be patient and take your time. Step3 Look to make sure it ended up in the correct position. Close the fuse cover and tighten the finger screws. Start the Caravan and test all the light functions. Make sure that the turn lights blink and that the hazard lights work properly.

Please rate and god bless:)
