Re: kenmore dishwasher not cleaning properly
Look in the inside for any screen that would be easily removed, some dishwashers have a self cleaning filter so you may not find it. I have a lot of other tips for you if your dishwasher is not cleaning so check it out. http://tclaundryrepair.com/dishwasher
Our Kenmore was not cleaning the upper dishes properly also. Obviously the water pressure delivered by the pump was restricted. Under the lower spinner and a larger plastic plate held on with 4 Torx screws and a smaller cover (2 more screws) over a small grinder cutter arm connected to the pump running around a circular metal perforated disk. This disk was clogged with the plastic from the dishwasher tabs - DON'T USE THEM! Sadly the clog had also damaged plastic end of the pump that engaged with this spinning "cutter arm" so I had to modify the arm to make it fit again.
Once we stopped using the Tabs, all our problems disappeared.

I understand you want to know how to remove large food particles that are trapped in your Electrolux dishwasher, model# EWDW6505GB0. First, I would suggest that you scrape away large pieces of food before putting any dish in your dishwasher.
Your dishwasher is equipped with a state of the art wash system. Periodically, the Glass Trap Filter and Large Food Particle Trap may need to be cleaned to maximize wash performance. The Glass Trap Filter is located in the center of the Large Food Particle Trap. The Glass Trap Filter is designed to collect pieces of broken glass, straws, bones and pits. To remove items in the Glass Trap Filter, grasp the handle, lift out, empty and replace. Hope this is helpful.
Rinse dishes in sink before you use dishwasher also leave dishwasher empty and put a dishwasher cleaning tablet in and clean the dishwasher you will see the difference , also empty the food trap , dishwashers are not designed to remove large food deposits as the is no way of masserating built in .
we had the same problem with a new dishwasher. The repair man told us that the liquid soap would froth too much and not fully rinse out of the system. So the food particles stayed in the trap and wouldn't rinse away. Also the drain hose needs to be looped up to the top of the dishwasher or ran directly down to drain so the wash water doesn't just drain back into the dishwasher. Also check you top rack water jets to see if there are food particles which move into the holes and block the water flow on that level. Hope this helps :-)
Hi and welcome to FixYa I am Kelly. One of the biggest causes of the symptom you describe is that there is a partial blockage of the drain. The blockage areas are most often in the "Air Gap" A device that looks like an inverted 5 oz Dixie cup on the back of the sink with no cone shape. Food particles collect in the very top of that and slow down the drain process. Because of that the dishwasher doesn't completely drain between cycles. So what you get is recycled previous cycle water in the rinse.
Other places where blockages occur are at the garbage disposal side inlet hole. And the last place is under the wash arm tower / mini riser in the pump impeller outlet area. To clean under the lower wash arm riser it requires diassembly and a good memory of how everything came apart / goes back together when your done cleaning.
sounds like the drain pump is not doing its job to recycle the water and allow for replemish of fresh water for the rest of the cycles, try looking closely at pump out system and monitior how fast it disposes of water hope this helps
If someone is putting dishes in the washer and obstructing the spray ams that would cause food to stay on dishes. After loading dishwasher and pushing in baskets make sure the spray arm doesnt hit any of the dishes causing them to not clean properly. If that doesnt work or is definately not your problem try removing the spray arm and seeing if it has food inside of it. Some times they get food build up in them and need to be flushed out.
