Question about Brother HL-2040 Laser Printer
Two pieces of paper went through at once - major jam. Managed to get one out the back of the printer - was concertinaed, but can't get the other out. Looking through solutions, several say to remove toner/drum unit but I don't know how to do this and don't like to force anything. Solutions say 'lift up and remove', but this isn't self-evident when I try it. Does the small blue lever on the inside left of the unit on the paper feed side have to be in a particular position? What is the knack to getting this unit out.
Many thanks for any suggestions
To remove the toner/drum unit you need to open the front cover, you will be looking at the toner/drum unit, the blue lever should be on the left.
Look in the middle of the toner/drum unit, if you put your hand in there you will feel kind of a "lip" where you can pull out the entire piece. The toner fits into the drum unit so when you remove it it is one piece. That little blue lever releases the toner from the drum unit. You should need to push the blue button.
Once you have the toner/drum unit out you can reach into the guts of the printer and retrieve your paper that was jammed.
You need to then replace the toner/drum unit, it will slide back where you took it out from. It may be difficult to push, you need to add a little force and it will go back into place. Close the front door and you should be all set. You may need to push the "go" button again, I can't remember for certain. Make sure that all of the doors have been closed tight.
