SOURCE: I read the entry about the starter rope but I can

have to turn the pully in same direction as you would pull the rope to get it to lock and then keep turning it for about 6-8 turns to put tension on it then put the rope on it.

How is that pully with cord connectrd or replaced

Not sure what machine you have it goes around a spring loaded pulley in the back, you have to wind up the spring the right direction if the spring is not broken, once wound up usually the cord ither made of sishing line or catgut has a not in it that slips in the whole in a spring... somewhat tough job, you have to wind up so many turns not over tight and not to loos to pull the carriage along..

Recoil starter repair

It sounds like the spring has come loose or broken. Remove head and see if you can twist by hand. If it feels like it's tightening then spring is ok. Let it go then remove cord with knife and turn winder back until tight. Feed string pully through and knot the end.Release inside of pully and it should work.If this dont work it will need a new spring.

How to thread pull cord on my Talon rotary mower

remove THE COVER THAT HOUSE THE PULL CORD pully. TURN THE WHEEL IN THE direction THAT IT GOES WHEN cord is pulled ( THIS TIGHTENS THE RETURN SPRING) hold this wheel tight..every turm it could spin back rapidly. turn wheel 6 complete turns. align the hole in the housing with the cord hole in the pully wheel. thread cord through both tie a double knot . slowly release now install cover. try it if too loose pull out to max , hold pully, remove knot , cord and turn 2 or 3 more turns, replace cord, double knots , slowly release. replace cover, crank it and cut that grass.

How do you put the rewind back together? Is it better to purchase a new unit?

well its not an easy job but it can be done,,,,first you need to put the pully on the spring and wind the spring up tight so it will rewind the starter rope when pulled,,,then tiy the starter rope into the pully,,,easy if you have done it before?

Spring keeps breaking on mower deck belt tighener.

I would try getting a stonger spring but the same length as the orriginal spring. The spring still needs to have enough tension to pull the pully back, if you get one that dosn't have as much tension it wont pull the pully tight enought.

Petrol Lawn Mower starter cord and spring problem

remove the shroud Ithe cover over the flywheel) and remove the old rope. now rewind the spring in the opposite direction of the string hole until the spring is tight. Then clamp it down so i won't unwind and reinstall a new rope (the same size) into the notch in the pully and tye a knot. then release the clamp and let the cord wind onto the pully(make sure the cord gose through the hole in the shroud. then replace the handle and reinstall the shroud back onto the engine..Good Luck

Change belts on 2002 kia optima

Not sure what engine you have , but I had an 02 rio with the 1.5 L . The serpentine belt did not have a tensioner (spring loaded) pulley , the belt tightness was adjusted by pivoting the alternator mount.
If you are takling about the Timing belt , the tensioner pulley wont move (even though it is on a spring ) untill you loosen the bolt in the center.

I have aTroy Built Super Bronco MD 60TG in the operators Man page 44 part #26 Spring Ext .94Dia, 6.74 fell off can not find where to reinstall can you send a diagram or tell me. Pat

The spring is connect to a stud on the front side of the deck in front of the right pully as you look at the mower. The rear of the spring is connected to an brace at the back of the deck behind the same pully. This spring assit in keeping the V-Belt tight when the blades are engaged. Fault stud broke needed replacement.
