Put all the screws back in except for two... on the bottom of the case the one directly above the "ew" in Gateway 7330 and the screw that is about 3 inches to the left of that sticker.. For further clarification, but not at the outside corners they're both near the back of the computer.

After those are removed, open the laptop with the screen completely open so the computer almost lays flat. Use a precision awl or flathead screw driver to pry up the strip at the top where your power and sound buttons are... I had the best luck prying it up from the left. Be careful about the ribbon cable that is under the buttons that goes to the motherboard... if detached it is difficult to reattach.

From there it should be pretty easy to see the 2 screws for the keyboard and then 4 screws on a metal plate which once removed will give you access to most of the motherboard.

Here is a video on how to open the monitor on a Gateway notebook, although if the switch isn't working anymore I assume there is a part of it broken inside and you might need a replacement.

you have options....#1 send it out to gateway for an arm and a leg...(i have the same model and had the same problem), #2 find a local computer repair store...they will most likely charge about 30 for the part.(that's what i was charged + 60 an hour for labor took 2 hours...) or #3 do it yourself, if you can solder then i can talk you through most of the dis assembly..plus you can get the part remarkably cheaper

Look for cracks in the hinges. It is a big problem with the Gateway 7330GZ.

You might check and clean the keyboard connection to the motherboard. However, usually this indicates keyboard failure. It's most likely that you're have to replace the keyboard.

Gateway 7330GZ PC Notebook screen going off and on

Ya, my 7330GZ has been having this problem. I did end up taking the screen apart.

Removing the little black nubs around the screen allow you to remove the screws, then you just use a flat headed screw driver to unclip around the edges (some can be stubborn, especially along the bottom).

The screen is glued to the casing along the top and bottom, so you have to gently separate the two.

After you have it opened up the screen has 3-4 screws along the left and right side (the right side is a pain to unscrew since the wireless antenna casing runs right along it).

Once you remove those screws you can take the screen out and get access to the ribbon cable running along the back.
