Question about Lexmark E210 Laser Printer

Lexmark E210 laser printer driver not working

I have a Lexmark E210 laser printer that has an old parallel printer cable. I purchased a USB adapter cable so it could be used with my laptop (Windows XP). The driver installation does not seem to be working. It says "ready", but nothing will print. Is the default LPT1 printer port appropriate?? TIA!!!

I got an answer from Lexmark- it sounds like it was the port. ??? It worked!! This is what they said:

Please follow these steps to download the Lexmark E210 printer driver from our Lexmark Web site. Please open the following link in a web browser.

    http://downloads.lexmark.com/perl/downlo...

    1. Select your Zone, Country / Region and click on Search.

    2. Enter the printer model number for example E210.

    3. Select the Operating System which you are using (Windows XP).

    4. Click on Filename: E210wxpe.exe

    (Driver for Microsoft Windows XP)

    5. Download the driver file and save it in your Hard disk drive and install by double clicking on it.

    6. A new small window will pop up showing the path where the "inf" file is stored.

    7. Now click the driver icon and follow the installation wizard. Click next, choose local printer, uncheck automatically detect and click next.

    8. Check on the option use following port select one by one and check like USB001, USB002 and try all the USB ports left under the list and click on next. (This is the only option left to install using Parallel to USB Adapter cable).

    9. Click on have disk and locate the file through browse option.

(Or click on the down arrow button next to browse button and select the option that goes like C:\lexmark\drivers\.....).

    10. Please select Lexmark E210 from the Printers list and click on next.

    11. Check on the option to make it a default printer. Checks on the option do not share this printer.

    12. Check on the option yes to print a test page.

    13. Now click on finish to complete the installation wizard.

Note: Regarding the use of cable there is no other option left to just try because Lexmark does not recommend using "Parallel to USB" converter or adapter cable.

I had the same problem two years ago and purchased the adaptor also .The port is correct. My adaptor never would work either. The correct answer, for me, was to purchase a Parallel port PCI card and install it.  I am still using it to this day as both the paper and the ink ribbon  on my pin printer is a lot less expensive for making copies that I don't need to be letter perfect.

Nao consigo instalar lexmar E210 no windows 7 64 bits o driver original dela instala mais na hora de imprimir nao imprimi

Hi and welcome to FixYa

Firstly I don't speak nor write in Portuguese but I understood it so my answer is going to be in English, apologizes for that. OK now Lexmark web site says that there are no Windows 7 drivers for that printer (seems to be an old printer). So lets install the Windows XP driver in comparability mode. But first try unplugging the printer (is it USB?) wait a few seconds and plug it back in to see if Windows 7 can install the drivers by itself (remember to have the windows up to date and all the windows updates options turned ON). Then if that doesn't work for you, try the compatibility mode trick.

1. Download the XP drivers ( http://download.cnet.com/Lexmark-E210/3000-2116_4-146099.html )

2. Place the driver installation file on the Desktop.

3. Right Click the driver installation file and select Properties/Compatibility Tab. Select the appropriate options in from the list (in your case choose windows 7 64 bits).

4. Click Apply/OK.

5. Right Click the file and select the Run As Administrator option to install.

That should work if the first option I gave you don't do the trick.

Hope this information was helpful

Sincerely,

aDynamite.

You can connect the printer to your computer via a parallel cable or a USB cable. Here's the link to the Lexmark E210 User's Guide for your reference: http://bit.ly/aCoWdH. Thank you for choosing Lexmark.

I recently purchased a new pc hp2009m and the cord on my lexmark e250dn does not fit my pc how can i adapt please advise. Colin

This printer has three standard ports: bi-directional parallel, USB, and ethernet (RJ-45). Most likely your previous computer had a parallel port. The simplest solution is to get a USB cable (Male type A to Male type B - 6' or less in length is recommended.) Install the software on the computer then connect the cable to the port on the back of the printer and to the computer (the square end goes to the printer and the rectangle fits the computer). The USB port is in the same area on the left side of the back of the printer as the parallel port.

Alternatively you could get a network switch and connect the printer as a networked printer. The ethernet port is near the middle of the back of the printer.

http://support.lexmark.com/index?page=recommendedDownloads&locale=EN&productCode=LEXMARK_E250D&segment=DOWNLOAD&userlocale=EN_US#1 has the software and drivers for support OS versions.

I hope this helps.

(Getting a bidirectional parallel to USB adapter is cludgy when you have a USB port available.)

I have HP Laserjet 4000 PCL6 printer with parallel port only. I purchased a parallel to USB cable to try and get it to work, but there seems to be no way to get it to print. There is no option for setting...

Many USB to Parallel, and USB to Serial adapters/cables just don't work well, due to the processing 'overhead' in the software of the drivers for these devices.

The parallel (or serial) device at the end of the cable just doesn't 'see' responses quick enough, so asumes it not to be connected to anything.

Network adapters are plentiful and cheap for these printers. Perhaps this is the solution.

My brother just got a new Dell computer and he has an old Lexmark Z24 (i believe) and he has Windows Vista..The connector is not usb..Can one purchase a new cord with usb connector to fit old printer to...

Try Maplins, they sell an adapter to convert from parallel to usb. Also check first whether Vista drivers are available for whichever model printer he has.

Lexmark never updated the E210 driver for Windows Vista / Windows 7. Luckily, the printer is identical to the Samsung ML-1210 printer, which has better drivers that are Vista / Win 7 compatible. (The new drivers also work if the printer is connected to an XP machine, but is being shared with a Vista machine on your network.)

Go to the Samsung Support website (www.samsung.com/us/support/) and then type ML-1210 in the search box in the middle of the page. Click on the ML-1210 result, then click the "Downloads" tab, then below that, click "Drivers." Scroll down to get the correct driver for your system.

Uninstall any old drivers before installing the new drivers.

Good luck!
