Hey,

This is really easy on this model of acer laptop

  • unplug the power adapter and remove the battery from the laptop

1. Remove the two screws fastening the RAM cover.
2. Detach the RAM cover from the main unit.
3. Pop out the memorys and remove the memorys from the memory sockets.

The 3680 comes with either 256MB or 512MB of ram 533MHZ. its upgradeable to 2 GB using two soDIMM modules.

Looking at 3680 I beleave it only supports 533MHZ the 667 might work but looking at the official documents no it doesn't mention that 667 would be supported. 533MHZ would be the sure fire solution that should definitely work. if 677 doesn't work go to 533.

How to install memory to my Acer Aspire 570 G Notebook PC

Most laptops have a panel on the bottom of the laptop that provides access to the RAM memory slot/s. Remove this panel to reveal the RAM slot, Insert a RAM module that is the same make and model as the original one.
If your laptop has a single 512Mb RAM module then add another 512Mb of RAM to increase the total RAM to 1Gb.

How do I install memory in Acer Aspire 5315-2290? It has 2 512MB in it. I have 1 2G chip. Do I remove both chips? Do I need 2 chips to put back in?

One OR two chips will work, mix or match; however,
Don't mix different "speed" chips.

If all three chips are the same speed/type, PC2-5300? Then you can use the 2GB AND the 512MB together (1.5GB total).

Hope this helps!

Acer 3680-2633 won't boot with new ram install

Dont be hasty! First of all, not all ram and motherboard are created alike.
1. go to the specifications of the RAM and find out what voltage its expecting from the motherboard. this may require just looking at your receipt or going the the manufacturers website and looking at the specs or calling them.
2. check your motherboard manual or access it from the manufacturers site and check the highest voltage that it will supply to the RAM.
if the RAM Needs more voltage than your motherboard supplies, it will cause the symptoms your describing. In this case you will need to find some PC4200 ram that runs at your motherboards voltage.
I have ordered many barebone computers that were shipped with upgraded memory that wouldnt work on that system, the sales people are more interested in selling than checking the specs.

RAM ON acer computers

Yes... just need to purchase the right stuff.

You need to determine if you have DDR or DDRII. And then determine if you have one stick of 512, or if you have 2 sticks of 256. Once you know this information, visit your local Best Buy or purchase somewhere online, a memory upgrade. Such as 2 sticks at 512mb for 1 gig total. Assuming you have two memory slots, should have anyway.

DDRII is fairly cheap right now, be a good time to upgrade. DDR on the other hand, is still a little more expensive.
