Question about Earlex Vacuums
This is serious! Yes, really.
There is no intended light source in the tank. The most obvious answer is that the heater element has burnt out, and that the light you saw was red/white heat produced as the element failed. If you are in the UK, I suggest you contact the Earlex helpline (01483 454666).
If this is what's happened, the fuse in the plug has almost certainly blown too.
