Question about Sony Hi8 CCD-TRV138 Camcorder

1 Answer

No sound on camcorder

Have used camera occasionally over 3 year period. Now, during transfer from 8mm to Sony CD burning machine, sound started to go off, come back on, sputter a bit, come back on then just went off completely. Can't hear any recorded sound on tapes or new recordings. Is this a fixable problem?

If you got a JVC camcorder, or Panasonic camcorder or Canon MOD camcorder, you would have probably encountered such issue--- what to do with the MOD/TOD files----the God forsaken video format? And you want to convert the recorded .MOD file type to mpeg, avi, mkv, flv, mp4, wmv or whatever more common, so that you can put them on Youtube, Myspace, Google video and Hulu later on to share the camcorder video with your friends or more people? And there is another headache thing is that most major video editing suites seem to unwillingly accept the MOD/TOD format. Even windows video maker, I have to say it's too complicated to usE

Someone successfully made it simply by changing the extension from .mod to mpg, but for most people, they just failed only to find there is no audio after the extension is changed, or the changed one doesn’t allow you to import these files into Windows movie maker, not to mention upload some video to Youtube.com or Facebook.

any alternativs? There is a very simple program that convert .mod NOT ONLY to mpg but many others like avi, mkv, flv, mp4, wmv, rm, rmvd, mov, dv, mg2 and swf. MOD converter is the one shoot all the trouble. This excellent mod conversion tool is not just a converter but also a video editing tool. From now on, with the MOD converter you can enjoy your mod video on many media player, even on portable devices like blackberry, Gphone, PSP, Creative Zen,etc.

8mm head cleaning tape should be available at most electronic stores.
If the tape does not help after two or three attempts you are best to take it to a techincian.

BTW: The tape is one of the best backup mediums. Transferring to DVD is a great option for viewing only.

How can i convert tapes to dvd

You can connect the Camcorder to the Computer using A/V interface to transfer the recordings to Computer.
Once you transfer the recordings from tape to computer, you can use any burning software to burn the recordings to DVDs.
In order to capture the analog videos, you can use the Windows Movie Maker available in the Computer.

Transfering 8mm video tapes to dvds

Hi there. You need to transfer your videos to your computer and then burn them to DVD using a program like Record Now, or Nero. You should be able to get this from Best Buy, or you can get it online from their websites. If you have any other questions, let me know with a comment. Thanks for coming to FixYa.

You need a very cheap converter from Ezmedia called Ezmaker.
This is a USB converter with input comp/svhs and sound.
Use software from magix or moviemaker or another capture program.
