Question about Vivanco 10764 Mouse

1 Answer

Mouse can only access desktop

I have a vivanco mouse (laser USB MSLU 10) with my computer (ASUS M3A78-VM, AMD Phenom 64, 3GB RAM, GeForce 9600GT).
I had it running 32 bit XP and when I started the mouse could access anything on the desktop but not the taskbar. If I opened Recycle Bin for example and clicked within the window it deactivates the window and activates the desktop again. If I use keyboard shortcuts to close the Recycle Bin the mouse then works as normal. Although annoying I could live with this workaround.
I have just upgraded to 64 Bit Vista and now the workaround doesn't work and the mouse can only access icons on the desktop. I have tried plugging it into different USB ports (of which there are 6) with no effect, I have tried different mice (all USB as motherboard has no PS2 port for mouse) which sometimes can access correctly but just as often can't. I have also tried using just the standard video driver instead of the GeForce 9600GT but again this has no effect. I feel that it must be the mouse as the OS is a fresh install on a newly formatted drive. I am just at a loss to explain it and wondered if anyone has any ideas?

Try the OEM website for drivers. The driver is most likely proprietary and the windows version is not able to interact with that mouse properly

Asus m3n78-vm ram increase

Well, how much have you got? and are you running a 32 or 64 bit OS? For the Max ram you can fit to your mobo go to the ASUS site and look at the spec for your board. If you have a 32 bit os you cannot use more than 3.7 GB of ram, you can use as much RAM as you can afford or will fit if you have a 64bit OS.

ASUS M3N78-VM motherboard Problemes

Good Motherboard...BTW... Reset BIOS to Factory defaults. Make sure you have the latest BIOS as well. Then you need to eliminate the other devices. Try running just on the On-Board Video...see if crashes. Run w 2 Gig Ram...same same... and of course the processor which may be impossible. Once you know it is MB or CPU... you make a choice which to buy or test. MB first... you can always return with less stress.
