How do I record a message outgoing?

Since you declined to specify the model of your Uniden system, I can only direct you to select it from the list here to download a copy of the manual.

How record message

With the phone in standby mode, press and hold the [greeting] key. You will hear the announcement "Record greeting" and a confirmation tone. "--" flashes on the message counter.
Start record your message. You have thirty seconds, and the message counter counts down.
When finished, press [greeting]. You'll hear a confirmation tone, and then your greeting plays back.

The above is from the "Recording a personal outgoing message" section of the manual (page 36 in my copy). If you need a manual, you can download one here.

I do not have a manual for directions on recording a personal message

For most of the Uniden DECT phones, you set up the outgoing message from the handset. Make sure the answering system is on. For the DECT1480, press Messages/Mute on the handset when the handset is in standby to enter the answering system menu. Then press 5 (or wait until the current message ends). Then press 8 (record new message). Wait for the prompt and then speak your message. When finished, press 8 again. Then listen to the play-back of your message. Press End to save and exit the menu. Alternatively you can scroll through the list of commands and press Menu/Select to enter the sub menu or command.

There are several models of Uniden DECT 6.0 phones. If you have a different phone, you should check your manual. The entire list of Uniden phone manuals is available here: http://www.uniden.com/scat/cordlessphones_mnl . Scroll down to your product and click on the version in your language.

I hope this helps.

(most of the Uniden phones that I know have the same set of directions for the answering system outgoing message.)

I have purchased the Uniden 6.0 and would like to install my voice mail but I am directed to the DETAILED OWNER'S MANUAL which is not in the box. Is it possible for you to download the information for me?...

There are a number of Uniden DECT 6.0 phones. The user's manuals are available from the list here: http://www.uniden.com/index/manuals_results.cfm?cat=59 . Select your model and language for the appropriate PDF.

For the Uniden phone I know, you can set up the answering machine from a handset or the base unit. First turn on the answering system. On the base, press Ans On/Off. From the handset, press either the Phonebook or Redial buttons and use the menu to choose AM Operation. Then select Menu/OK. (Then find Answer On/Off choose On or Off and press Menu/OK to save.)

To set the Outgoing Message, use the handset as above but select Record OGM. (Alternatively, you can delete or hear your outgoing message.) To record the message press Menu/OK and wait for the beep before starting your message.

Next you can set the length of the message recording for incoming calls (1-4 minutes or Announce Only (no messages recorded). Choose Msg. Length from the menus.

I hope this helps.
