Does your cable box have rca jacks on it. If so you can run your cable cord from the wall to the input on the cablebox. Then from the cable box to the dvd. Your cable box should have the audio lines which are red and white. Connect those to the dvd's red and white inputs. And the yellow video cord from the cablebox to the dvd video input. Try that................I hope that was helpful for you..........Please rate this information..........Thank you for using Fixya.com..... : )

Have connected headset through cable box works very well for t.v. Not at all using DVD player.any suggestions?

Hi
Just a thought but how is your DVD connected to the TV?
If the DVD player is connected to the TV and the headphones to the cable box, then the audio will be going direct to the TV and no chance for the headphones to pick it up.
If however the DVD player is connected to the cable box and then to the TV, I think I would expect it to work and cannot think of a reason why not.
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya

I have a DVD player (Digitron) which I want to connect to my new Phillips TV but I don't know how to make the connection. Someone told me that I must use the remote control to do this but there is no

First with the TV and the DVD player off, connect the cables with the best possible connection that you can. The cable with the red, white and yellow plugs on both ends is a Composite Video cable. If this is the best output on your DVD player, connect the cable to those jacks and to the matching color connections for a composite (or A/V) in on your TV. Alternatively, use two (usually the red and white plugs) for your audio connection and get a separate S-Video cable and connect that to your TV and DVD player. Composite and S-video both carry only an standard definition (480p) video output.

Your DVD player may have other connections. You will need to buy the other cables to connect these but you will get a better picture (high definition video) if you can use component or HDMI cables. The component video cable uses three plugs (usually red, blue and green) to carry the video signal. You also use the RCA audio cable (red/white) to carry the audio between the TV and the DVD player. HDMI cables carry the video and sound on one cable and looks somewhat like a large USB cable (the side that connects to the computer - rectangular). These cables are available at many stores that sell electronics but you can find them at better prices at online stores that sell cables.

Once you have these cables, turn on the TV and look for a button on your remote (or the TV) that says Source or Input. Press this button several times until you are at the input that corresponds to the one that your DVD player is connected to. (Some of my TVs have more than one of a given input; so you have to match AV1 or AV2 for example.) Then turn on the DVD player. (Note for some TVs it is possible to delete inputs from the source list when they aren't used. You may need to edit this list to see the correct inputs.) If this doesn't help, try turning off the TV then turn on the DVD player first and then the TV and locate the correct input.

Without knowing the TV or DVD player models, I can't identify all of your inputs and how to determine the best one for you to use. If you add a comment with the model information, I'll give you additional assistance if I can.

I hope this helps.

Cindy Wells
(the inputs on all of my TVs have labels in a small font. Often each input choice is surrounded by a box so that you don't accidentally plug in the audio cable at Component 2 and the video cable at Component 1. You may want a magnifying glass to make sure that you correctly identify the source that you need to find in the input list.)

I PURCHASED A MAGNAVOX Z V 427MG9 A VHS DVD RECORDER.I HAVE A NEW VIZIO VW26L HDTV. HOW DO I CONNECT THEM? I HAVE ALREADY CONNECTED A HDMI CABLE TO IT BUT DON'T KNOW TO SET IT UP. DO I NEED ANY OTHER...

HDMI cables are actually wonderfully simple to connect. Once you have connected one end to the TV and one end to the DVD player, you will simply need to change your input channel using your TV's remote. Find a Input or Video source button and press it until the screen says HDMI. Now your TV may have several HDMI ports so you may have to try a couple HDMI channels before you find the right one.

Hope that helps!

Have just purchased Toshiba 32kv500b tv and as there is only one scary socket don,t know how to attach a dvd player can you help with this problem please?

Connect the cables from your dvd player to the connections on the side, not the back, of the tv. If you are using component cables, match the colors in the 3 top ones (YPbPr) and the red and white go down into R&L just above the headphone jack. If you are using composite the plug the yellow just above the R&L connections.

MY TV IS NOT SHOWING ANY PICTURE OR SOUND ON ANY OF THE STATIONS IT SHOW WEAK SIGNAL WHAT SHOULD I DO

Hi,

I don't think there is any problem with your TV. I think problem is from your cable receiver or antenna depending on the cable network that you are using.

To confirm, connect your TV to a DVD player and let's see if there is going to be sound and picture on your TV. If TV works perfectly with the DVD, then it means your antenna or cable receiver/decoder needs to be check. There might be a temporal network problem with your network provider.

Let me know the outcome of connecting the TV to a DVD player so that I can tell you the way forward.

Your sincerely.

I received a cobydvd224 as a gift but don't know how to connect to my cable box-pls help

There may be several ways, depends on your TV. Your TV may have: HDMI, Component, Standard Video, or RF in. You need to match one of those connections to the DVD players available connects. For example... if you have a newer HD TV your cable may be connected to the component input of the TV if there's an HDMI input on the TV and an HDMI output on the DVD Player, simply connect them together and put the TV in HDMI mode.

I know it's confusing sometimes, but read the book and you should be able to figure it out. Let me know if I can help more...

Trying to connect dvd player

You will have to connect your DVD player to the plasma TV, not the cable box. The cable box (or most cable boxes) have video outputs only. The same is true for the DVD player: it outputs the video to the tv.

Look in your DVD manual for scenarios for connecting your player to the tv.
