My laptop keeps turning off by itself

can you tell more about the problem ?
if it turns on and enters the desktop and suddenly shutdown then it might be ventilation issue the cpu is over heating and the inner fans are either blocked by something or not functioning normaly if you put the laptop on your legs just don't because you are blocking the ventilation

My computer is on but no picture. It says windows was not shut down properly

Hello Pattiaknight,Make a desktop shortcut to shutdown and include a switch that forces all open apps to shut down without warning.

Just right click the desktop, New, Shortcut, type:

Shutdown -f

Shutdown -f closes any open programs without warning.

Now instead of shutting down the usual way, just use that shortcut to shutdown. If the error stops it means some program wasnt shutting down properly on occasion.

Please let me know if you any further questions or concerns. Also please rate it if you like the answer,it helps alot.

How do I reboot my Toshiba satellite

Assuming that you can see and interact with your Windows desktop and are not locked out, then click with your mouse left button on the Start button in the bottom left corner of the desktop, click on Shutdown then from the shutdown options shown, select to Restart.

If you are locked out and cannot interact with the desktop by mouse, then you can try invoking the Windows Task Manager by pressing the three keys (Ctrl + Alt + Delete) together - you should get an option in the top menu of the Task Manager to allow you to Shutdown the computer.

If none of the above helps, then press and hold the Power button for more than 4 seconds and the computer should power itself off - you will lose any unsaved documents etc but will do no damage to the computer by doing this.

Unlock keyboard on computer

Hello. There are several things you can try to unlock the keyboard.
- Shutdown the computer, then turn it on afterwards. Check keyboard functionality.
- If you're using a desktop, disconnect keyboard, restart computer then plug the keyboard back once the computer has boot up completely.
- If you're using a laptop, turn it off, unplug the power cord, remove the battery, re- seat the battery after a minute, plug-in the power cord then turn on the laptop.
- Disable On-Screen keyboard
- Right click "My Computer" icon on the desktop then select "Properties". Click "Device Manager". Look for the Keyboard, hit the drop down arrow beside it to display the installed keyboard. Right click on it and if you see "Enable", click on it, otherwise it's already enabled.

How to reboot my laptop

You question is too short, I have trouble assuming it. Anyway let me try my best to make you understand.
1. If you want to reboot your laptop as soon as it starts up, just press ctrl+Alt+Del on the keyboard, before you see the windows logo start screen. It'll automatically reboot itself.

2. (windows xp), Simplest method is press Alt+F4 and then click Restart f7428f1.png

or if your desktop is set to classic menu, the click on the "shutdown" and select "restart" as shown below;

3. For windows 7, click start, then click the right arrow ">" just right to the "shutdown" button and select "restart"

Or simply press Alt+F4 and select "Restart"

Same steps with the windows vista.
Hope this helps.

Good luck.

thanks for using FixYa.

I disconnected the PC today. When I reconnected it, the power supply green light flashes on the back of PC, but the PC would not turn on when I press the ON button on the front of PC. What may be the...

Hi, I would suggest that you powerdrain first your desktop before turnng it on again. What might cause this problem is you did not properly shutdown you computer or power interuption. To powerdraqin your computer you must unplug first the powercord on the back of your desktop then you should press and hold the power button for 20 seconds without the powercord plugin to your desktop, after that you can now plug in the powercord and turn on your desktop computer. If this troubleshooting step doesnt work you can try unpluging the powersupply itself into the motherboard and just plug it back, also while your doing this you might also try clean the
RAMS or the memory of your computer and make sure that they are properly seated. Hope this helps

Lifebook N3010 turns itself off after about 5-10 minutes. Do you think it could be the cpu fan? Any quick fixes?

thermal shutdown. more robust electrical insides (19volt/6.3amp draw; more than most for sure!),
so you get way more heat, bigger louder harder working fan, etc....a bit too much, and selfsafety circuit kicks everything off. it uses a desktop cpu, so that's more heat that otherwise a desktop could handle.

My laptop acer aspire5920 is not shutting down due to removal of my shutdown file from my laptop due to unknown reasons.

Hi dear,
Create Icons for Shutdown and Reboot If you find it annoying to access the Start Menu for shutting down or rebooting the computer, create a shutdown and reboot icon for the desktop.
Desktop Shutdown Icon Right click on the desktop
Click [New] [Shortcut] to open the Create Shortcut Wizard
Type [shutdown -s -t 00] without the brackets.
Click [Next] and type a descriptive name of your choosing for the shortcut
Click [Finish]
Add a bit of class to the shortcut by assigning it a custom icon. Right click the shortcut, click [Properties] and select the [Shortcut] tab. Click [Change Icon] and select from the icons that are displayed.
Desktop Reboot Icon Right click on the desktop
Click [New] [Shortcut] to open the Create Shortcut Wizard
Type [shutdown -r -t 00] without the brackets.
A Final Note: If you happen to be as fanatical as I am about having nothing on the desktop, drag the new icons into the Quick Launch area of the Taskbar.

then use it.

if not resolve it

then use following step ;-

click on start then go to RUN and type SFC /SCANNOW
press enter
this command recover all windows lost files, if it will ask windows CD then enter the windows disk.

bye take care
good luck
